Knicks are going to sweep the Cavs. I guess any team in the finals has a chance of winning it, but against the Western Champs... hmmmmm

So...probably yes. But there's a few problems. Spider has 1 year guaranteed and 1 player option left on his deal (50 & 54 million each), and he probably won't sign an extension this summer. He hits 10 years of service after next season, which would make him eligible for a 5/350 extension (with a no trade). Of all of the things I don't want us to do, trading for Spider and having him push us into 70 million per season contract until he's 36 is near the top of the list. He's a good player, but he's not that fucking good. If I felt we were a Spider away a title, I'd be cool with taking a swing, but we're not so pass. Almost as bad as paying him that money would be watching him pout and demand out after a season here after we didn't give him that ridiculous amount of money.

If we could trade BI + 4 1sts (we're one of the few teams who has all of their own 1sts to trade) for Spider and get him to lock in to an extension now (4/272), which would give us 5 years of Spider for 322, that would be something to consider.

Fwiw, I think there are going to be swings out there in the market to make this year that include players under control for 2-3 more years and that will raise both our floor and ceiling over the next few years without detonating our cap situation and pushing us into the aprons. I think that's the way to go this summer and not an actual win now move on a guy who isn't a championship alpha, but will expect to be paid like one.
