OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Hey 29 hr in his first 150 games is no joke.

he has some work to do but he has some legit mash potential. Let’s get this guy some hgh...

Also, he’s a Jew bro and with my guy KP off the team I need him on the roster.

glad to hear you support us Semites, zeke. FWIW my dislike of JP had nothing to do with his cultural background.

I've never been high on Rowdy because his only real minor league success was driven by the weird dimensions in New Hampshire (353 feet to right centre and 306 down the RF line.) Tellez was a monster at home that year (.319/.417/.583), but just okay on the road (.275/.358/.477) for a bat-only prospect. He has crazy power though, and he's young, so maybe he can turn into something.

That was always false though.

He was a ~140wrc+ player in both A and A+, while young for both levels, before that 150wrc+ in AA. There was an uptick in iso from .198 to .223, but that's pretty marginal. And he always had very good bb/k numbers along with that.

The meltdown in AAA is still bizarre to me.

Young kid losing his mom at the time. Iirc she was diagnosed with cancer that season. That’d take a toll on just about anyone.

happy to see the kid doing good.

that throw by Gurriel last night though...🔥🔥🔥🔥

Jays get LH Dan Vogelbach from Seattle. Literally homeless Tellez. Big power vs RHP, strong walk rate, zero contact.

Better PH than Panik i guess

What is one trade you would make before the deadline?

Andrelton Simmons to Toronto: The market for a player like Simmons, an all-time great defender at shortstop, is every bit as slim, though that won't keep the Angels from trying to find him a landing spot. Most playoff contenders have shortstops, and Simmons' bat doesn't play at DH. But with star shortstop Bo Bichette out for an undetermined amount of time with a knee injury, renting Simmons -- even if the Blue Jays' staff generates ground balls only 40% of the time -- would be a mighty upgrade over the out-of-position Joe Panik or Santiago Espinal.

Just noticed Jordan Romano and I went to the same High School in Markham about a decade apart.

The Blue Jays have emerged as buyers ahead of Monday's Trade Deadline, and sources say Pirates right-handers Trevor Williams and Chad Kuhl are among the rotation upgrades they are considering.

With starting pitchers Matt Shoemaker, Nate Pearson and Trent Thornton on the injured list, the rotation has become the Blue Jays' most urgent need. Williams and Kuhl aren't eligible for free agency until after the 2022 season -- which makes them especially appealing for a Toronto team with only two starters, Hyun Jin Ryu and Tanner Roark, signed to guaranteed contracts for '21.

Of course, Toronto officials are monitoring other potential acquisitions around the league. The Angels are an intriguing possibility for a larger trade, given that they have available players in multiple areas of need for Toronto: infielder Tommy La Stella, right-handed starter Dylan Bundyand veteran catcher Jason Castro.

The Blue Jays also are open to trading for a rental starter, such as Seattle's Taijuan Walker, if they can't acquire a pitcher who is under control for 2021 and beyond.
