OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

In corresponding active roster moves, the Cubs have optioned right-hander Nate Pearson to Triple-A and designated infielder Jon Berti for assignment. The 40-man roster had one vacancy, with Berti’s DFA clearing another

With Ty France hitting, and Joey Loperfido sitting vs a RHP today, i suspect it's Joey who gets sent down when Springer gets back. He and Lukes play the same role.

They probably like Straw too much
Should be Straw since the only thing he does well, Varsho does better.

But agreed it probably won’t be.

Straw for me is on the playoffs roster as 26th man for D and baserunning so France/Joey sre fighting for Santander's spot and i think that's a tight competition.

If santander is healthy i think they're both out of luck.

His .500 babip says he's the team's flukiest most insustainable hitter.
Don’t need to convince me that Loperfido is a mirage. I’m just saying, it doesn’t make sense to send down your young OF during a hot streak with a .1000OPS to keep Myles Straw on the roster for an extra 2 weeks.

Anyway, my guess is that the roster crunch never materializes because of another injury or mystery assignment. If they end up really having to send someone down for two weeks, my guess is Schneider.

Lotsa red hot bats.

besides Loperfido or Schneider, the other option is Mason Fluharty. Could probably survive without him for 2 weeks but I doubt they go that route. With more LHH than RHH, it's Loperfido over Davis, and he makes way more sense than DFA'ing a guy you need for the playoffs.
