OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

I just object to the strong, emotional language that Jonas uses on the non Vladdy part of the roster. "Massive" issues seems to only be true if Vladdy is Vladcooked. Otherwise, it seems like a team with a few low hanging fruit potential upgrades to their hitting, which shouldn't be hard? Isn't their pitching already elite?
 
It's more like there could be massive issues, but many things have to go wrong, including the Jays suddenly not spending money.

I don't like the Santander situation, and we don't know enough about Barger yet, that may be true, but besides expecting positive results I do know that they will spend to fill up holes.

My guess is they want a WS extra-badly because of the Vladdy contract, but even without thinking that we know they spend.

Springer not being Springer is almost as big as Vlad not being Vlad. Missing that bat is massive, the difference between that version of Clement and this one is pretty damp big. If you want to be fine with Luke’s/Barger in a o corner, shrug, sure but that’s not a great OF and really easy spot to upgrade

Springer is 37 in a few days and a drop off was expected and his production is similar to Vlad with less games

Vlad is the major disappointment

Sure, but who gives a shit?

They were a world series calibre team because of what they were in 25, neither repeated, one of them is likely to bounce back in 27, the other is cooked and a pending FA and we need both calibre of sticks to get back to where we were.

Blaming this entire season on Vlad and injuries alone is lazy and dumb.
 
Barger playing more than 5 minutes would have. Springer and Kirk both being out and taking time after they returned to get back into their rhythm was damaging. Whatever Santander would've been worth, add him to the mix.

And then yeah, 60% of our starting staff missing basically the entire year probably had an impact.

So, no, this is not just some shit team that performed at its expected level. It was destroyed by injuries and Vlad, and is still somehow in the playoff race.

It's okay to drop this baseball expert act you like to put on. I would accept that you know more about the food vendors at the Dome than any other fan on the planet, but the actual baseball part, eh, not so much.
