He is still a wildly valuable position player in a FA class weaker than a wet cheesestring.
He doesn't suck, but he's going to be paid too much for what he brings, especially as he gets older.Chapman sucks. Would be nice if they could replace him through trade.
This is all setting up for the obvious miss out on the playoffs because of a tiebreaker and those games we blew cost us the season.Jays at 88 wins. Texas 89, Houston 87, and Seattle 86. Jays have tiebreak vs HOU, but lose tiebreak with Seattle and Texas. Seattle plays Texas.
2 wins the Jays are in, 1 win and the Jays make it more or less as long as either Houston or Seattle falters (if Seattle sweeps, and Houston win 2/3 or 3/3, then we get some weird tiebreak scenarios which generally aren't good for the Jays).
If the Jays are swept, they can still back in it if Houston or Seattle crumple.
