The fight sucked, but when you have two fighters whose game plan is to be counter-fighters and neither one is willing to throw that plan out of the window, that's the type of fight you get. It sucked, but c'est la vie.
I don't blame Adesanya one bit for how he fought. If he's in a straight kickboxing match, nobody in the UFC's middleweight division can touch him. But if there's the threat of a takedown, as there was in the Gastlelum fight, he's hitable. I also wouldn't blame him if he looked at Robert Whitaker, who went 10 full rounds with Romero & probably took a career-altering beating in the second fight (a fight he should have lost, but somehow didn't thanks to incompetent judges), and didn't feel like testing out how tough he really is.
This week's fight night card is superb for a free card. I don't think Lee - Oliveira is going to last long as I think Kevin Lee will make minced meat out of him, but it should be fun while it lasts. Maia-Burns would be fun if it was a BJJ tournament, but I think Burns will beat him up standing. Moicano has a tune-up fight, and if he ends up losing this, he was probably all-hype. Walker-Krylov is a KO waiting to happen. I mean, most of the card is super interesting. Can't wait.
