Play-in Round: Toronto Maple Leafs (8) vs Columbus Blue Jackets (9)

And while I'm dredging for advantages...

...the ice will be primo primo ice with no fans there. It will be the best ice we've ever seen. And that's to our advantage.
Excellent point when people were wondering how bad the ice would be in the hot summer I said it's a non factor the 20 k bodies make it warm not the weather

Yeah the outside temp doesn't matter much I don't think. That's never been the issue.

20k people and all the lights on was an issue though. But now they're doing concert lighting and no crowds....and they'll probably even keep the temp cooler than usual as they don't need to worry about customer comfort.

Yeah you know he was sending them homework all break, and now they actually got a training camp with the new coach to boot, where he wasn't just in a desperation emergency situation with no real practice time.
I've been reading they had teams of people looking at all kinds of different things in the Leafs play. Also, that they had a lot of convos with the players through it all.

Also helps that there isn't a sweaty hot basketball game being played on top of the ice every other night.

Ice should be faster, crisper, but choppier. Isn't there going to be several games a day on the same ice? I haven't really followed it but I thought that's what I read. It'll take a bit of a bite.

Also, in every article no playoff series wins since 2004 gets brought up as the #1 topic. I read articles about the Panthers and not one mention about 24 years since a playoff win.
I get the argument about big market vs small, but if you are analyzing series it should be equal for all teams.

"Losing 3 tight series to elite teams means the Leafs who have never missed the playofds have a track record of choking and failure and need to win NOW or else need to make major changes"....

(P.s. Remove 4th liner Spezza and the average drops to 25.5).

Are you saying the timeline to win didn't change with the Tavares signing?

So how many more first round losses would be okay by your standards? Just wondering since most people here seem to be content with playing a "hard fought series" and bowing out in the first two weeks every year.
Even though it's tough to judge too much from these playoffs, I fully expect then to beat Columbus., They have no excuses.

It's definitely win now. The window of urgency is definitely the next few seasons here. We have the rest of the best of Tavares, and will be in what is statistically the top years for star offensive players with our other top guys, not to mention most of their remaining years under contract.

Meanwhile, Boston is contending led by a 42, 34, 33, and 32 yr old.

Well, nothing less than the cup is ok.

But if they get beat badly by a crap team in the 3rd round that's worse to me than being edged out by a great team in the 1st round.
