Play-in Round: Toronto Maple Leafs (8) vs Columbus Blue Jackets (9)

Odds in most series are basically even. Vegas is smarter than all of us. It's hockey, not basketball. And a 5 game series will only increase the chance of upsets.
 
I mean it sounds like we should only be expected to win when we are the overwhelming favorite in a series. The Washington series aside, the last two years have been toss-ups with two similar teams and we came out on the losing end both times, choking it away last year up 3-2 with a home game and a 1-0 lead in Game 6.
 
If The Cock was still behind the bench, I'd bet on Columbus. They used to give the Leafs fits with their forecheck and cycling, as Babcock had the team running around in its own end looking like headless chickens. Another big factor was his insistence of playing useless guys in key roles.

Perhaps most importantly, I have confidence in Keefe that if Fred shits the bed, he'll get yanked like Babcock would never do.

he's also not afraid to mix up lines, or to throw Tavares/Matthews/Marner out there when we really need a goal. common sense stuff, but it's a difference vs. the Bruins series right there.

And most picked the Leafs, which does not match their (and the other media's) previous coverage. The vote should look more like the Islander-Panther vote if that were the case. If the Leafs and Jackets are the same grade team then a lopsided vote makes no sense whatsoever.

Yeah it does not match the actual analysis I have heard at all. They also don't have Burke's picks. He did nothing but shit all over the Leafs in the segment I heard.
 
Bet hedging. "Leafs are trash and the worst team ever but I still expect them to win."

They're right no matter what. It's a Skip Bayless specialty.
 
The SN replies says it all. Even with 5 picking the BJs it's a big Toronto love-fest and they are all homers. Media can't compliment the Leafs at all.

Not sure if that part upsets me more or the fact that he wasted our elite skill and skating by implementing an extreme stretch pass system.

But tactics aside, the real difference to me comes simply through results - Babcock was completely unable to coach defense. Like at all.
