Round 2 | Montréal vs. Boston

Re: The Second Round Thread

Murrays numbers put him as the worst defenceman who gets a regular shift in the league. The absolute worst 5 on 5... and thr most sheltered by the opponents he plays.

As for his pk work there is virtually no difference in games he plays vs those he sits.

So no change in pk
And we are way worse 5 on 5.

As for playing boston. Go back and watch pittsburgh vs boston playoffs last year. The Bs lit him up.

are you kidding me? your hate on is blinding you, the bruins swept the penguins , for Christ sakes the penguins only scored 3 goals, the problem was not murray..

Re: The Second Round Thread

Never said Murray was the only problem or the biggest problem.

Doesnt change the fact he was one problem and his lack of speed and inability to get the puck out of his own end was exposed over and over again in that series.

There is no other Habs Dman capable of handling Lucic in front of Price or capable of making Chara even budge in front on the PK....

Not true. If Weaver piggybacks Bou on his shoulders, they can do it.

Ok , now they talk about changing date again to Saturday because of ice issue as it was mentioned by some members.

Play a doubleheader on Saturday to make up for lost time. We get a split and I'm happy.

It's playoff hockey not tiddlywinks - unless a player is close to being murdered there should be no penalty. NHL referees are not competent enough as a group to allow them to consistently manage penalty calls during a game, better off them doing nothing, than the cluster fcuk they call their job.

Why did no Hab player ever complain about "stick work" in the 70's? From everything I've read & watched, no star player in the history of the game was abused like Lafleur, yet he did ok, and he had no cement head for protection, just sayin...

why different rules?
and more importantly why is that acceptable and for some reason considered a good thing?

that said Im not concerned about the refs...they will let 10 things go and call one random thing....as they always do

If we are playing Murray against the Bruins number 1 line with lucic... we are in huge trouble.

People bought into this theory that bigger = better.

Reminds me of Rocky Thompson in the WHL. People were so scared of him (he was a goon for those that dont know). The coaches advice. Just skate around the pylon.

Boston will do the same thing to Murray.

I do not mind having Murray in the game at home...easier to get matchups.

That said it is not like our third pair is amazing with or without Murray.

As someone mentioned earlier...I prefer this plan vs Chara/Lucic.

No one said regular shift against their #1 line - hence tactical management & usage of Murray. He only fits in against their #1 PP & occasionally 5-on-5 - the Habs will likely avg 5-6 PK's per game, Murray should get 5-6min of playing time, and another 5-6min at 5-on-5 for the remainder of the game. I would go so far as to suggest only playing him in the not so friendly confines of Boston.

The Habs will need Murray's size, Bruins gameplan will be to attack the crease. Who exactly on the Habs D has the size & strength to handle any of Lucic, Chara, Iginla? Subban couldn't even contain the diminutive TBay forwards in front of Price.
