St. John's IceCaps: 2016-17 Season

Scherbak finally figuring it out? Maybe he needs more time like Pacioretty back in the day?

He's only 21. I don't think many low first rounders ( oreven high first rounders) make the NHL at 19 and 20.

He's probably on the exact pace most predicted.

He's on a pace that follow the majority of prospects but the majority of prospects don't make it so that's not a good pace.

He'll probably get a chance to crack top 9 at some point (when his waiver eligibility expires) but there is regrettably little hope he will be anything more than that. In the the three games he had in the NHL this year he looked absolutely lost out there.

Scored a beauty though.

His development was somewhat slowed down by injury, we have to take that into consideration too.

He's 21.

6 players drafted after him in the 2014 draft have played more than 30 NHL games at this point in their careers.

The idea that he needs to be in the NHL at this point or he's not going to make it is extremely flawed.

He still has good potential. As I said, even Max went back to the AHL. By request too IIRC. Look at him now. If Scherbak can gain the confidence, learn a bit more D and turn into a 20-25 goal winger it's a win.

Yep... a player's first 3 NHL games are all telling.
