I'm a little surprised we haven't had any big results there yet. Then again, maybe we have, and the pharma corps are making sure to keep it quiet for patent and profit purposes.

Maybe, but looking at some of the communities I check in with regularly for tips and tricks on stuff, anything that is presented to them that is "vibe coded" is almost universally disliked and the OP is questioned why the project was necessary, what it does better than the multiple apps that already exist for the task, etc.

Basically anyone who is active on github almost on reflex hates anything vibe coded. It's hard for niche products to take off if they're not adopted by enthusiasts/early adopters first.

Fictitious AI whores are going to be a commodity, there's no money there. IMO, there might be an avenue for existing adult performers to license their likenesses out. But the market for made up AI girlfriends just isn't going to be there imo. Not that there won't be demand, but the supply will be overflowing and free.

That's interesting, yest I could see that. I was thinking if you're a specialist in some field, excellent at what you do and need a specific tool to do a function that you could just make an app for that purpose. Not as a commercial product but as a way to support you're unique use case. But who knows.

I didn't say anything about money though. In fact, what I did say implied the opposite. Low barriers = flooded market

For me, the problem with all of these potential edge cases is the financialized aspect of it. If you're some sort of a specialist and you dream up an app that can help you, the AI coding of it 1) Isn't going to be free forever, the whole point of burning this VC money is to create a market for it and then financialize the demand, think of Uber. & 2) still requires time to test it, re run iterations, etc. You can go on upwork right now and find a guy in Bangladesh that has been writing python code since he was 12 to write your basic app now for a few hundred bucks and it will work the first time with someone else doing all of the debugging work.

So if you're that specialist, how much are you willing to spend per month on a subscription to access the service that can write your code for you, and how much time are you willing to sink into it? Are those two combined a better or worse use of time and capital than going on upwork/fiverr?

AI porn simply doesn't have the financial or regulatory hurdles that something like medicine has. The argument isn't that AI porn will make people rich, it's just it will be the first thing we see and it will be plentiful. Hell people are already making decent coin creating and pumping out AI porn on twitter. Like with every time there's a new technology, it's always porn first and porn most. Porn always wins. Life's simple rule.
