Hmm. Zach Bogosian is available too.
Though he's generally unavailable to play more than 60 games in any year.

He also isn't really very good, and has three more years at $5M+ left on his deal.Hmm. Zach Bogosian is available too.

It's possible. All the reports leading up to the draft seemed to indicate Vegas & the Wild hadn't been able to work out a deal.I can't believe the 7th overall pick of a few years ago who had 34 points at age 22 is left unprotected if there's no deal in place.
Isles give up a 1st to keep Vegas from plucking a forward.
It's crazy how they already have three 1sts in the draft. Maybe more to come.
3.5 for two more years of Staal is a steal and just coming off a 65 pts seasonWho really cares much about Staal?
Dumba is a huge piece for them for the next decade if they take him. I don't know what they could reasonably offer to have Vegas lay off. It'll be painful one way or the other for them.
Even so, though, LOF's point remains---it's an either/or proposition for Vegas. If they take Staal for the purpose of dealing him to Toronto, then they've lost their chance to get Dumba. That means that the return you offer for them has to be more valuable than Dumba would be to Vegas, and more valuable than the return any other team would be offering for either Dumba or Staal.I'm talking us make a deal with Vegas to get him.
That kind of depth let's you go on deep runs.
Would prefer if we didn't pull a Montreal and waste assets on positions of strength as opposed to addressing positions of need.
That's what I'd do if I were McPhee.Vegas should just keep Dumba.

So you can't really assume that Staal would be in any way cheap to acquire.
I agree. I think if I'm Vegas I prefer Dumba over a 1st.
Although... if they can get a 1st plus Staal... that's tempting. Cause they can easily flip Staal.
