The Good The Bad & The Ugly - Game 5 - Bruins vs Habs

D minutes :

Subban :23, Markov ,Emelin, Gilbert : 21 . Weaver : 16 , Tinordi :15 .

I guess Subban can play 25-26 . I am ok with Emelin, Gilbert minutes . probably 13-14 for Weaver and 16-17 for Tinordi .

Game was never in doubt. :)

I have great concern over our D and mild concern over Price. With Price I will wait a little longer before calling it great concern. He's started slow in the past and bounced back. Part of his current issue though is the atrocious defense being played in front of him. Forwards are cheating a little too much, the tight team D that the Habs played in the playoffs last year is gone. As for the D corps itself, the only player that I see playing to his ability is Markov.

Subban - C grade is the best I can give him. Sometimes he tries too much then tries too little. He seems to have not found his stride yet.
Weaver - pedestrian at best. Really needs to pick it up.
Tinordi - Seeing some improvement but wow, this kid needs another 40 games to stabilize.
Gilbert - He's playing to his ability, unfortunately we need more.
Emelin - I liked what I saw from him by way of getting under Lubitch's skin but he was also lost out there at times.

MB needs to monitor teams that have started poorly that were not expected to. He needs to poach a top 4 D to stabilize our corps. I'd like to see him get a top RH guy to play with Markov and move Gilbert to the third pair. Barring that, get a stud LH to play with Subban and move Emelin back with Markov even though that would put Emelin on his off side again.

The offense is there (partly because they are playing very loose with the defense), the D really needs to step up more as does Carey. Really good teams will eat the Habs for breakfast if they play that loose on D.

This.

Some one had Laser pointer tonight on Rask . As much as i hate Bruins i don't like to see these kind of things .

Good post .

This is issue . I start to think Subban is not YET the guy to play in all situation , sure his offensive skill is amazing , probably best in league but as real number one , he is not yet there . Some time he commits mistakes that 5th or 6th D won't do . Can he get better by time ? Hopefully ..

I still find Markov even at this age is better over all D than Subban and i am saying this as one of Subban's fans ..

I think it is hard to judge Subban right now because other than game 1 he has not been that good but we all know what he is capable of. He has to get his act together.

I like the fact that we were the more physical team tonight. A first for a game Vs the Bruins in a long time.

I don't like the fact that some physical plays were just covered up as stupid meathead plays.

I'm not a fan of going for big hits if it's going to put you out of position, especially in the defensive zone without forward help nearby.

I actually don't mind the leaky D . . . for now, as it forces us to open things up offensively and makes the games more entertaining to watch. But MB will have to acquire another d-man by the deadline. Having two formers Panthers in your top 6 is a recipe for disaster.

Price didn't look great on the fourth goal, but then again, it came from a one-timer in the slot. I don't put any blame on him for the other goals, though. Outside of the fourth goal, I thought he was solid.

First goal, screened & tipped. Second, scramble in front of the net and he didn't see the puck. Third goal off of Pleks.

He hasn't been razor-sharp so far. But it's only October.

I agree that he's not as good as he could be, I just don't think he's been as bad as some people like to say he's been. He's let in bad goals so far, but so has every elite goalie so far. I don't see the reason to worry.

If he's still a little off two months from now, then yeah, I'll start worrying.

Let's not forget that James Wisniewski got an 8 game suspension for miming the act of oral sex. But does anyone believe that Lucic will even get one game for his jerk-off gesture to the fans?

If a Bruin does it, it's different and somehow justified, I suppose.
