The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

LeafGM, what's next on your checklist to becoming a Burger Boy Believer?

Haha. Not to pour any cold water on the celebratory mood, but I’m not there yet. I view this Raddysh signing similarly to how I view the Hiller hiring, in that it probably wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I respect the logic behind it.

And in the case of Raddysh, respect the balls it took to make this move, and that he’s obviously not a dithering, terrified deer-in-the-headlights about making bold moves like a Treliving or JFJ.

And like the defenseman he acquired in the Woll trade, I’m cautiously optimistic to see how these moves will turn out.

Next up I want to see him draft McKenna, and for the rest of our picks to have a strong emphasis on skill. I’d like to see him fire Carlo out of a cannon and get something useful in return, engineer a decent Rielly trade and probably add one more defenseman & one at least one more forward with legit offensive talent.

I still think Mo is gonezo
One of those where I’ll have to see it to believe it. I think he’s really well liked in the room, the longest serving Leaf, a guy who can bring good mobility and offense, and signed to a good deal. It just does not seem like a guy they’d be so desperate to move. OEL seems like the far more likely candidate.

It’s similar to the Stolarz Woll choice. I’d expect it to come down to who would get the better return and is the easier one to deal, and I’d imagine that’s OEL.

Yeah, I'm with you on this whole checklist. That'd be a tidy offseason.

Dumping Mo and Carlo really cleans the books quite nicely. Wonder what they get for him and who they replace them with. That's the hard part!

Wouldn’t you be??????

Hughes should be fired for trading multiple first rounders when he simply could have sat on his hands hoping for the off chance of a Raddyish trifecta: a career year, be available, and willing

#massive fail

I'm glad that you're finally coming around on your fraudulent front office built on the bones of the Bergevin era.

It’s also telling how the focus is on the downside risk and not the potential upside of an In his prime #1 d signed for 3m below market.

There's a reason our media and our previous regime got along so well. They were both full of defence first pussies.

The Andrae extension is going to be interesting. IMO you don't trade Woll for him if you're penciling him in as a 3D, but are betting on him in a bigger role.

Looking at Raddyish and Andrae, both are really strong puck movers, and solid defensively. OEL kinda fits with that mold much better than Mo does. Tanev fits too. Chayka specifically mentioned the d getting "healthier", which is really only him.
