The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

i guess it's still possible, perhaps even likely, that a new system can still make this team look faster. Less dump and chase can't hurt. And they certainly didn't get any slower, at least.

And by "new system", I actually mean "system".

the tweet you posted said nothing about systems.

And now that Knies no longer has to be crucified for the greater good, LOF can rest easy. He's a fun player to watch, and loves being a Leaf, so I'm happy to keep him in town.
Also this is the best possible outcome.

If we zoom out, regardless of whether today’s forward adds are good, meh, or bad, several of them are gone in two years. This will coincide with a bunch of money coming off, the cap going up, and McDavid and Werenski going UFA. That’s the time to get them.

Does nobody think the entire roster from last year would have performed head and shoulder better with someone who has a clue behind the bench? Someone who’d play to their strengths and create systems to amplify them? I mean, honestly, the new acquisitions could be just turnover and be equal to last years drek and have an analytics driven coach who can get way more out of them working with instead of against them.
"create systems"

No effort or thought towards this last season.

it actually said something more than that. read it again.
I guess he was referring to Ryan Reaves and Simon Benoit types. The point being that this team was often described as slow last year. So if that is true it's got to be about the sytem and not so much the personnel.

You just know the Overdrive guys are loving what happened today. You dont want to be agreeing with the Overdrive guys.
