The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

I don’t know if I’d believe anything coming from Kypreos on this subject. He’s carried almost as much water for Paul Marner and Darren Ferris over the years as Dreger has.

And this just seems like more carefully “leaked” info designed to make Mitch a more sympathetic character, or twist the knife some more on Leaf fans.

That said, I agree with his larger point—Akhtyamov is pushing them to make some decisions on their goaltending.

And Stolarz/Woll could be interesting trade chips to dangle at the draft for teams desperate for goaltending.

Yeah we're in a very good spot with goalies. Not forced to make any move this year, but easily could and probably should move one of them out to help land a good skater.

As for which of the 4 has the most trade value....who knows. It probably fluctuates wildly from gm to gm.

Would need a few of them to actually show something at the NHL level to get something useful for them. Else more just a side piece in a move for a skater

well 3 of them have and the 4th might win the calder cup with a .920+ sv% this year.

If they don't make a move this year they have to carry 3 goalies though.

pretty sure elliotte is wrong about hildeby's waiver status.

though maybe elliotte is right about hildeby's waiver status. if he does need to clear them next year then yeah suddenly trading a goalie is a must.

I think dealing Woll or Stolarz makes alot of sense.

it sounds like a few teams want to upgrade in net and only one of them can get Binnington.

Which one you move i think very much depends on other teams perceptions, the Leafs own eval on both vets, and Hildeby.

Hildeby - Born 2001 - First Contract Signed 2022 - Waiver Age 21 - Next year is his 5th year since signed - not exempt.
Akhtyamov - Born 2001 - First Contract Signed 2023 - Waiver Age 22 - Next year is his 4th year since signed - still exempt for one season.

I’ve been pushing trading Stolarz for a while now. I was hoping somehow Tre was going to do it at the deadline. If someone gives us something good for a guy who can’t stay healthy, always gets hurt when needed most, and hasn’t played more than like 40 games ever, I’m in.

If memory serves this has already been discussed publicly. Treliving went to the Marner camp and they didn't want to talk so he didn't formally offer a contract.

This is just more damage control from one of the bigger douches to have played in this market

"There's been some dark times in hockey for myself honestly... I'm thankful for my family."

Almost verbatim what he said on the ice post-game. One would think that he was "coached".

How about our dark times when you disappeared in deciding games?

Playing in Toronto is hard and not for everyone but you can't make comments like "we're like gods here" and then complain about criticism for being a failure in critical late series games.

I just want him to shut up and play the rest of his career elsewhere.

I’d love to get a 1st in return.
