The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

You’re too late. Should’ve quit when they hired Tre and Berube.

I mean, I was tempted. Did plenty of yelling and screaming both immediately before and after they hired Tre on what an unmitigated disaster his hiring would be/was.

Following Tre up by, for the second time in a row, picking the guy who’s obviously the worst and most unqualified candidate by a country mile and essentially nuking whatever remains of the unfulfilled promise of the Auston Matthews era…that’s just a bridge too far for me this time around.

I mean managing a bunch of Wendy's locations makes Chayka way more qualified than Brad ever was. There is an upwards trajectory with this hire. I wouldn't bail yet.

Hiring Chayka would be a huge FU to Bettman (and Leafs fans).

Dude should be heading up an analytics dept somewhere before ever getting the keys to another franchise.

He's not really qualified to head up an analytics department though. That's my core complaint about him even being this deep into our hiring process.

He's neither an expert at hockey management as evidenced by his leadership of the Coyotes, nor an actual expert in the development of modern analytics on the level of someone like Metcalf.

That's my only ask really. The GM doesn't have to be a calculator glasses nerd dweeb bitch. But he better make all decisions based on what his team of dorks say. Maybe Metcalf will be used like Mehta was in Florida regardless of who the GM is. I genuinely do want to hear that opening press conference, it'll tell us a lot if the media asks the right questions (they won't).

The GM doesn't have to be a calculator glasses nerd dweeb bitch.

and I'm cool with that as well. But let's get someone who can run a high level organization in there then who is committed to data. Wendy's Boy isn't it. I'm entirely good with Gillis with his choice of AGM's. His desired structure is a good one and would allow for us to have high level specialist AGM's doing what they do.

Sundin as PoHO sure sounds like shuffling deck chairs to me.

Which doesn't mean that it won't work, for all we know Sundin is all in on a data centric view of the game (I mean, if he looked at his career through that lens, it would tell him that he was a fucking monster in a way that simple G-A-PTS didn't fully appreciate...confimation bias is a hell of a drug).

But putting a player with no management experience at the top makes me nervous. The only analogues I can think of is Sakic. He was an "advisor" for like a year before Colorado put him in charge of everything.

I don't mind Sundin coming in as a figurehead, as someone who understands how to navigate the market, but why give him any more power than that?
