The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

I'm willing to listen to the plan. Experience is overrated anyway, all these execs eventually share the same dumbass brain once they're inside an organization for a couple of years (it even happened to golden boy, Kyle). If Mats can make this organization less of a clown show, and Chayka uses Metcalf as his right hand man to make data driven decisions, then whatever, let's see how it goes.

My standards are extremely low after Brad.

In addition to that....

Why is the Schmaltz trade a clear win? They've been more or less equal offensively since the trade, while Strome has been a pretty solid fulltime #2C the entire time. Schmaltz more of a part time centre.

There's an argument for preferring Schmaltz over Strome, but Schmaltz has had more expensive contracts than Strome every year as well.

I don't mind a symbolic hockey leader up top. It would be nice to finally have an actual leafs legend in that job. And sundin still strikes me as a guy not just trying to boost his own legacy or career and only taking it because he actually cares. And still as someone with the humility not to meddle with the experts working under him.

but hiring him no matter what the title is still just a minor move. much more important which experts are hired to do everything under him.

Also hayton wasn’t a good pick because of Hughes but zadina, boqvist and kravtsov were. 6 8 and 9 and haytons been a 20 g nhl centre which is not what you want at 5th ov but you can do a lot worse.

I think having somebody media savvy like mats should help let the nerds nerd. I got the feeling tha shanahan didn’t like that part of the job.

if you're thinking in bets, what are the odds one of your former players is one of the best candidates for POHO?

I'm happy to blast away but I don't think it's right to do so till we hear the structure and plan. The only thing we know is that they had no interest in the old boys club candidates and are looking at doing things a bit more unconventionally. That doesn't mean it's guaranteed a good thing, but it kinda means we don't know how this management team will operate or how they think or what their decision making process will look like. So we wait.

despite all this being in the wind right now, I can't bring myself to believe this franchise really thinks the right move is to award the keys to people with no experience or any track record of NHL success. at least, not yet.
