In terms of the deal, I think it is a very fair deal, slightly in Dubas's favour. Nylander does get $10.5M in year 1 so he doesn't lose any $$ on the 20ish games lost, which is a small victory for his camp as well.

Yeah in a six year deal it's market value, no doubt. Both sides win.

In actual dollars received, nothing to do with cap hits or AAVs, William Nylander is receiving $41.77M over six years, which averages $6.96M per year.

In truth, the caphit is the only thing that matters here and it's down where it needs to bee.

yeah that's the thing when using Pastrnak as a comparable - because right now the clear argument is that Pastrnak was dumb to take that deal.

He's also making Nylander whole for the time missed this year with a signing bonus, and giving him lockout protection money in the form of a signing bonus.

Nylander was absolutely right to hold out. He got a terrific deal that the leafs simply didn't offer earlier. But the agent knew dubas couldn't let the guy sit out so he held firm, especially on a clear market value offer. Bravo to him.

Pastarnak was coming off 34 goals 70pts in 75 games....he's never been the ideal comparable media made him out to be.

Gross made out phenomenally well for his player....
