OT: CFL Thread

Maybe Marc wants to go back home and coach the Vikings.

As for Rider fans, I think they're awesome. They travel everywhere to see their team. I saw a ton of green jerseys when the Riders played the Argos in Toronto.

I think it's more a case of provincial depopulation. As the CFL marketing dep't once noted: They live among you.

There are idiots like in every fan base but lots of people drove 12+ hours to get to the game. Some are very hardcore.

There is some of that...but not as much as I would have thought.

Yeah, in the Prairies I guess it's a days drive away... through the drive over the lakehead might be asking bit too much.

There are a lot of Sask expats in Ontario.

Oh ya. For sure. Im just saying I was amazed at how many actually do travel.

Just so you know, the Riders are third in merchandise sales among all Canadian sports franchises, trailing only the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Part of the reason the Riders have a big following in Saskatchewan is because, well there isn't much more to like sports wise over there. I mean, on the professional level, beside an AHL team, there isn't much to root for over there.

Please like Montreal and Toronto, the NHL team takes a lot of space fan wise. If we didn't have an NHL team here in Montreal and the Als were the only sucessfull professional team we had, you'd see a lot more Als jersey everywhere.

So what?

Yeah. So what?

Do you realize that Saskatchewan has a population of just over 1 Million. The Flames and Oilers split a much bigger pie (3.7M) with little competition from other sports and still can't get it done.

The Riders sell more merch than the Canucks, the biggest game in BC. They also top out the Toronto Blue Jays and Raptors.
