Panik to the Blackhawks for Jeremy Morin. as per sportsnet.

Forgot about Panik. I liked him, obviously babs didn't but I wonder why

The leafs as well as a few others have asked about Kerby Rychel per sportsnet

21 year old big winger putting up solid points in the AHL.

Wonder what he would cost?

Also amazing that 2 teams are allowing coaches to mess with top players and prospects as much as Tampa and Columbus are: Stamkos, Drouin, Johanssen and Rychel.

Rychel's numbers in the AHL aren't really that impressive, considering his age. Though I guess it is worth mentioning that he is the best offensive producer on a Lake Erie team that's awful-to-mediocre offensively.

He may be worth kicking tires on, but if we give up anything for him, I'd hope it'd be off the NHL roster and not terribly significant.

I recall Columbus wanting Percy in a deal for Rychel.

How would people feel about a similar swap?

I don't think we'll see Columbus take on any of our vets.

18 pts in 20 games as a 21 year old is awful numbers?

For a kid with good size i would say that is pretty decent for his age. He isn't a stud but i would still call him a pretty promising prospect, if it takes percy i would be fine with that move.

I'd honestly rather hang on to Percy at this point. We're a lot lighter on good defensive prospects than we are on forward prospects.

And I still think Percy has what it takes to be a solid second-pairing defenseman at the NHL level. After all the time spent on developing him so far, I'd like to see him do it as a Leaf.

Who said 18 points in 20 games is "awful"?

It's not bad, but if you take it in context with the numbers he put up in his rookie season in the AHL, he hasn't done much to prove so far that he's got what it takes to be a top-6 offensive producer at the NHL level. For reference's sake, Josh Leivo, Brendan Leipsic and Connor Brown are three depth prospects in our organization who had better 20 year-old/rookie seasons in the AHL than Rychel, and comparable (or better) post-draft performances in the CHL.

And all this is not to say that Rychel's a bust or "awful", just that he's not someone we should kick the doors down to acquire.

It will be interesting to see how we fill the roster when some of our pending free agents/vets are traded at the deadline. Drouin and Rychel fit guys that are right at the cusp of playing full time in the NHL. We have a few of those on the Marlies as well. Our roster is set to shit the bed even further to end the year so adding legit talent in Drouin to get some work in with Babcock before next season could be good for development. We have the time this year to be patient with players developing where a team like Tampa has zero time for players that aren't fully ready to contribute.

Percy - Rychel would be an even deal in my opinion. I like Percy and do think he has the talent to be a solid bottom 4 defender. Don't know if i would make the deal as the points made by LeafGM are valid. Just think its a fair deal. If we can get Rychel for some nothing prospects i'd be all for it.

As for Drouin i really don't know what the would want.

mixed up your "not that impressive" and "awful to mediocre" comments

It seems to me Cooper is causing the Lightning a lot of headaches/. Not sure it was worth extending him. That team has nice talent, you can find another coach to get results.

Stevie Y or Cooper.

St Louis, Stamkos soon, Droiun....

Hedman next?
