Old Therrien can't control himself and takes whatever shot he can at Subban. He was asked about Weber yesterday and said, if he is supposed to play A, he will not do play D, which of course is a veiled attack on Subban who allegedly didn't follow the system.

Yeah but Count, that right there is a good enough excuse to trade a player.....if you don't follow orders, and piss off your teammates in the process, why would you even continue to defend such player.
If Subban did what he wanted, then that is sufficient enough reason to trade him. And I think Price pretty much indirectly stated that Subban did not follow the system, and it pissed off everyone else, including his teammates.

The fact that Therrien is still dictating how players play on this team makes my skin crawl.
There is no way that Weber has a good offensive season using Therrien's "system."
Goal wise Weber scored 14 of his 20 on the PP so I don't expect decline there if the PP is improved.
I expect that Weber will be somewhere around 45 points.

Isn't that what a coach is supposed to do? The coach devises the way he wants them to play, they practice it, and then they put it into action.
Don't blame the coach for Subban's ouster. It was Price who had the final say and he said in not so many words that Subban wasn't getting with the program. To me, Price's comments about the trade are more revealing than anything else. If he's happier with Weber then so am I.
My issue is why the team has to keep making less than veiled swipes at him. He is gone, why does our braintrust have to continue the issue.
Inagine a coach telling a player how he wants them to play. How unusual.

It's not veiled. Subban was traded for a reason. Not playing the system the way he was told, the way the other 22 guys on the roster were expected to play, is a good way to get yourself traded. And if Subban doesn't do things the way the Preds coaching staff want them done he's going to wear out his welcome there too. Subban needs to learn that he isn't LeBron James. He isn't playing a sport that rewards or even condones individualism the way basketball does. It's a cliché but in hockey the name on the front of the jersey really IS more important than the one on the back.
And let's be honest. The REAL question he was being asked was "How will Weber be better than Subban?" The reporters aren't looking for an answer that doesn't compare Weber to Subban. The comparison is all they care about because that's inevitably going to be the theme of the article when it goes to press. Weber-Subban comparisons are what drives the bus in terms of selling newspapers and getting clicks on the websites. Therrien is only answering the question that was asked.

I wasn't bashing Weber. I was bashing Therrien's "system"

Not sure where that comes from, MB refused to discuss Subban at PC yesterday & hasn't done so since the deal was announced. If anything Subban's been the one coming out in the press...

MB's statement this offseason to the effect he wants players who are pissed off after a loss & have the loss eating them up vs Subban's take "I plan to go home have dinner, see my family. It's a game...." - that was the essence of why this deal happened.
Neither is right or wrong - in Mtl u sell the team, in non-traditional hockey markets (Nashville) u sell the player to sell the team/sport. #philosophicaldifferenceinapproach
