I’m assuming you mean the bacon from the pig but no, while there’s no argument grass fed is better, keep telling yourself cooking in bacon fat is good for you. See how it works out.

You just don't understand how organic it is. It's full of antioxidants and stuff. Cures cancer almost immediately.

There's plenty of research to show that the omega 3 content of grass fed animal fat is much higher than the alternative. It's not like it's difficult to test.

I don’t use them. I use olive oil almost exclusively. Haven’t tried avocado oil which is surprising considering just how much i used to cook. Have you used it extensively?

I’m well aware of omega three. I even take the omega three ethyl esther supplements to deal with my triglyceride problem. Saying it’s better than the alternative of hormone and grain based feeding sure but good for you? Nope.

There is still so much we don't know about nutrition, but there is a lot of research to suggest that Beleafer's right on this point about omega 3/6 and fats in general.

I believe avocado oil has a higher temp tolerance for cooking so should be used ahead of olive oil with high heat. I haven't used it all that much so not sure about the effect on flavours. (I can say that mayonnaise made with avocado oil is, shall we say, not good).

I didn't say it was better. I said you need balance the 3 and 6 -- it has serious health implications and particularly as it pertains to clogging arteries. Most of your food is heavy omega 6.

Prior to the introduction of mass production and consumption of seed oils, the ratio in the diet was around 2 to 1 (6 to 3). Today's standard NA diet it's around 45 to 1.

Yeah, it’s gross. One of the reasons I’m asking if anyone has used it extensively. I don’t want my recipes messed up, they’re tweaked for olive oil.

I use Avocado oil for frying fish at high temps -- it's fine. But yeah, I would not use it as a salad dressing or uncooked. Yuk!

Another alt is grass fed ghee (clarified butter); has a slight nutty flavour that I enjoy sometimes depending on what I'm cooking.

But honestly, a decent quality olive oil can handle most frying needs other than deep frying. EVOO is safe in a range of 350-410 degrees, which is pretty high.

We need a culinary thread with how many times threads turn into food discussion. Foods like awesome.

Fine for fish or fine for cooking anything? I can see it being fine for fish but how about veal? Chicken? Pork? Veggies? Have you used it on any of those?
