OT: NFL Thread

Like the saying goes... If you're a player that gets injured in the college, you'll get injured in the pros.
Fucken bang on , and played on a stacked team

Some of those injuries came on non violent hits

How you bypass a tank like Herbert for him is beyond me

Because Tua is the better QB?
I don't think there's a single reasonable argument you could make to really back that claim.

I think Herbert is in a shittier, more snake-bitten franchise with a clearly inferior coach (who I would bet a small fortune would get fired for Sean Payton this off-season) but he's clearly a much better player.

Bypassing Herbert in the draft wasn't a difficult choice. Asking "why" years later is always hindsight being 20/20, but Herbert had some red flags in college too. A lot of people that I follow on social media & read had worries about Herbert.

Same thing with Zach Wilson. People who say Zach Wilson got drafted second overall because of that throw he made in his pro day are the same people who read up on prospects 2-3 weeks before the draft based on what their team needs are. One of the reasons Wilson was even ranked above Lawrence for certain people is that Lawrence had bad games while at Clemson. Wilson clearly played the inferior competition at BYU and it's harder to get an idea whether that translates into the NFL or not.

So you excuse Herbert for what? "A shitty franchise"? Da fuq you think the dolphins are?

Tua is concussed but let's look at shitty franchise. I can give you 5 QB I take over Herbert with all things being equal and Tua is one of them.

No GM is taking him over Herbert , your smoking

Dolphins aren't a great franchise, but they're not the Chargers. The Chargers are the unwanted stepchild of the NFL that literally doesn't have a single home game. Every single game they have might as well be on the road because their fans never outnumber the opponents'.

The Chargers also might have the worst luck, all things considered.

I don't think Tua's a top-10 QB. Probably more in the 11-15 range with Goff/Rodgers/Geno types. I would take (in no order) Mahomes, Lawrence, Allen, Burrows, maybe Hurts, Lamar (If you ever wanted to start a "who's overrated?" discussion, Lamar would be the second highest on my list, a distant second behind Justin Fields), Dak, Cousins, Brady, probably Stafford if he's not injured, before I would take Tua.

Tua's one of those guys that is fragile and seems to only be excellent when everything around him is excellent. I also think his success is much more related to having the best 1-2 WR punch in the league.

Next you'll tell me Herbert is better than Allen like fucking morons have said the past few years.

Let me know what league you play in because I want in if this is the thought process.

Allen
Mahomes
Prescott
Burrows
Lawrence

Are five I immediately take over Herbert. Remember, for ease of discussion, we're discussing healthy. If we get into too many nuances there's just no point so on pure talent I take those guys first.

Then I would have to think about it but I like

Hurt
Tua

So I would put Herbert around 8. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good QB, but he's not this fucking God to the position that I have to keep hearing about.

Funny you say that, because since week 6, he hasn't been great. Don't take my word for it, he's in the bottom third of a bunch of starting QB stats since then. His game against Miami was the first game in two full months where he looked like a top-5 QB in the league.

Everyone below Mahomes is debatable and a question of preference. I think it's something along the lines of,

Mahomes

Burrows
Allen
Herbert

Hurts (I remain unconvinced simply because of the team he's on)
Dak
Lawrence

My problem with Josh Allen is that he's wildly inconsistent. And this is not a 2022 thing, it's been going on for a season & a half. When he's on, looks like Peyton Manning with legs. When he's off, he looks like a bigger Justin Fields.

Give any one of those guys KC's oline and you'll change your tune.

Injured UCL.

But facts.

Keep smoking the Herbert bong guys. When its all said and done and he was good not great you'll move on. Overrated.

He is not top 5 in the league.

Give any one of those guys Tua's two receivers.

Since we're talking about Herbert, give him a real offensive line.

I don't like this game. Everyone could have a better x, or a better y, and their game would improve. Yeah, no kidding.

Allen and Williams. Don't give me that shit. I'm not talking just this year. Herbert has stud receivers too.

Herbert is not top five and I'll die on that rock. He's in the next five and so is Tua so pick your poison, just stop over rating the guy.
