2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

That’s what happens when you let the media vote anonymously. When you have the coaches that he coached against and the players that he coached against all completely outraged, that tells you how little they thought of his “rule bending”. This comes down to a bunch of small penis media guys that didn’t like his attitude towards them in press conferences. End of discussion. And this is coming from someone who works in the media and deals with Bill Belichick on a weekly basis. Sure he’s not the easiest to get along with, but he is hands-down, a first ballot Hall of Famer. All you have to do is read the reactions from former players/coaches that he beat the snot out of for 4 decades.

You can take rule bending out of quotes. He didn’t just bend rules, he broke them. He still should be in the Hall of Fame.

I put it in quotes because coaches and players know that every team does it in some form or fashion and he got caught. But I’m not gonna have a back-and-forth with you about it because regardless he deserves to be in.

Schadenfreude aside, I think that this is just a matter of too many voters are not convinced that he's done with the NFL. Sure, there have got to be a few salty voters out there that just hate the guy because he's an ass, but I think it's a case of not being convinced that he's completely done with the pro level.

That’s why Parcells wasn’t elected right away either, there was an underlying sentiment that he wasn’t done coaching. And the Hall changed coaches eligibility waiting period to 1 year from 3 for this year. So maybe that he’s still coaching, albeit in college, some may have thought he wasn’t done.

The real issue here is the dumb 1 year waiting period, I think. There’s surely a few petty voters, but voting in a guy you’re fairly certain would interview for virtually any open job that would have him is a stretch for some people. Who came up with that change, by the way? What on earth was the concern? 3 years is nothing in the grand scheme.

These coastal nor’easters tend to disappoint this far inland, FWIW. They’re pretty rare too, and often cause real chaos down at the beaches where the wind gusts are bad enough before you start adding snow to the mix. But, as always, we’ll get what we end up getting. Better to prepare for the worst, so let’s go strip those grocery store shelves … again

We still have stuff left over from last weekend's storm that we didn't eat.

I will say I'm a bit concerned about Sunday's 3PM game versus LA. Depending on how much snow we might get overnight Saturday, the commute to Sunday's game might be dicey.

I have one more bowlful of my pork chili left.
I'll not make it again for some time!

Former Checkers owner Michael Kahn is in a bit of hot water.

I’m sure he’ll find a way to blame Tom Dundon for that

And FWIW, it’s not all that unusual for a moderately sized charitable foundation to have a sole director and no staff. It IS unusual for somebody to strip their own foundation of that amount of funds, however. And illegal if you don’t file it as income.

This is one of those storms where Fayetteville is going to get it worse than Raleigh and points westward. NWS is predicting a ridiculous 8-10 inches for my area of Cumberland County and a possible (35%) 14 inches. Safe to say that even though they are usually way off, because snow totals are harder to predict than hurricane tracks, we are going to get a lot more snow than we are used too. Probably the biggest amount in the last 20
Years. Snow is fine, just don’t ice over. My 4x4 can handle snow

My daughter in Wilmington got an alert from UNCW that they’re expecting 6-12 inches.
Yep. These coastal low storms tend to affect the coast and Sandhills alot more than the they do Greensboro and even Raleigh to some extent. We’ll all get a good amount of snow but Fayetteville and eastward could get slammed. I’ve seen it too many times in my 53 years living in between Jacksonville and Fayetteville. At least it will be a dry snow so it will be easy to shovel driveways and clear roads.
