2020 NHL Entry Draft

I would take him over Byfield too but that’s just me. There’s a strong possibility that the Rangers don’t take Lafreniere too. They need centers. If so it wouldn’t shock me to see them move down to 2-4 range. It’ll be expensive for those teams though.

With Ottawa having 7 picks in the first two rounds i could see them packaging a couple of seconds and the #3 overall to get Lafreniere who would be a marketing hero for them.

Or they could have flashbacks of Alexandre Daigle

There’s almost no possibility of the Rangers not taking Lafraniere.

Hard to turn down a 220 pound 5 tool C

Rangers are going to assemble a nice solid core. They wanted to rebuild, told the fans, and now they are doing it properly. If they tank next year too, they will be quite dangerous since they can spend to the cap easily.

They're not going to tank next year and besides, next year's draft isn't looking that great.

I mean, the NYR might be one top-end center and/or d-man away from being very dangerous for the years to come. They really don't need much to get going.

They have one of the best lineups of prospects in the league and a lot of them are going to start getting into the NHL this season or the next.

It sure does help winning lotteries in good draft years. Kaako, now Lafreniere or Byfield. I’m still not convinced they go Lafreniere. The really need a #1 Center.

They were smart and retooled over a 2-3 year period . Not a tear down but an efficient reset where they capitalized on asset management , something our knobs didnt do .

They got lucky. They finished above us in the standings and got rewarded a first overall pick.

Sens have a generational opportunity for a rebuild:

3 first rounders (2 in the top 5)
4 seconds
2 thirds

Stop already. Lafraniere is so much better than Byfield from what those in the know say. They’re taking Laffy.

They also got incredibly lucky in the draft lottery two straight years.

Luck and timing go hand in hand . They gave themselves higher odds in the draft lottery.

They accumulated tons of of draft capital . In a few years they went from a useless team to a promising future

Panarin helps but it all started with the plan to retool and get younger when the team ran its course .

You need to put yourself in a position to be lucky

This draft was rigged
We did it right, until we decided to beat the Pens for no reasons. Unlikely the Rangers wins the lottery in a normal year though, so I'm not giving them any credit for that.
