2020 NHL Entry Draft

I guest the problem when you have many picks in a single draft is that you can't have too many players all graduate with the club at the same time because of the contract limitation.

I'm guessing they want to move some picks to next year to spread them out a bit. I also feel the player they have in mind, they feel confident to be able to draft him by trading down still.

They obviously feel there's no value in any of these remaining players and are shifting picks to next year which is baffling. By all accounts I've read is not a strong draft at all. Another Hischier type draft.

See, Chromiak and Villneuve,if they are the player they want, are still available so it didn't change much to trade down.

the whole point of stockpiling picks is to have more lottery tickets. It's great to stockpile picks, but you have quantity in a weaker draft. I'd rather use the quantity in this draft.

Unless these picks are being stockpiled as part of something bigger. I think Bergevin does another offer sheet. Habs have 1 1, 2 2s, 2 3s and 2 4s next year

If that's the guy they were waiting on then I don't understand the strategy even more.

sure - but maybe they feel the third rounder next year is better than a third rounder this year
could be that the first round is weaker in comparison
