Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

Florida got a significantly better deal on a pending UFA top-pair defenseman than we got on our pending RFA sophomore winger coming off a whopping career high of 58 points.

There is nothing on this entire planet I put less stock in than hockey nerd stats.

But yeah, of course the 22 year-old RFA has better long-term upside than the 29 year-old UFA. That’s not really the point—it’s that the UFA (who also plays one of the most premium of premium positions—top pair RHD) should in theory have significantly higher leverage and earning power than the 22 year old RFA winger.

But not if the two teams in question are Florida and Toronto, I guess. Must be nice.
