Short answer: no. :cool:

You can't expect players to come to your team just because they had bedsheets or pyjamas with the team logo on them when they were 5. You need to offer them something more, either actual winning, or at least a winning culture. You can't just sell them on hopium; not unless you can also offer them tax advantages and year round golf like Florida.

4 Years, 8 mil at the least was for sure his for the taking on the open market, which is much better for him than 32 over 6 years. But yeah, in this case the discount that I was talking about was the aav.

I doubt he’s actually playing that long… he compromised on contract structure (not money) in order to recreate the best two months of his life

Yeah of course. But the money is still gonna be spread out over 6 years vs 4. And he probably could have gotten more money at 4 years in the open market, just perhaps in a non tax sheltered location. So fair enough.
