He did a lot of dumb shit in Phoenix. He doesn't fit either archetype that I want. He's not an experienced organization builder with the mindset to come in and change everything about the org, and he's not a data nerd to manage all of the transactions.
I would be somewhat disappointed, but okay with just a Gillis hire because at least he'll tear down the machine itself and rebuild it with people who think the whole thing differently. He'd pick data driven AGM's and build out his dream org the way he laid it out in his pitch deck to Pittsburgh.
I'd prefer him focusing on all of that stuff though and an actual data nerd coming in as GM to handle transactions immediately. We have a chance to be good again quickly, but it's going to take someone coming in who already has a strong working knowledge of the players in the market and their performance value, and that GM working aggressively. Whoever is making personnel decisions is going to have about 60 days that will dictate what we are next year.
