I realistically don't see Francis making any moves.
Honestly, for those of us who have been with them through the long, ugly slide since 2009, that's the ONLY thing Ronnie could do to alienate the real fan base.
I realistically don't see Francis making any moves.
Skinner may be (is) streaky, and concussion history et all, but there's also this little tidbit - Only Tyler Seguin has more goals for a player from the same draft year. Taylor Hall is a close 3rd, but after that the next best goal scores drop off considerably at 95 goals (terrasenko)
Just my own opinion and two cents, but if a team like the Capitals added Eric Staal to that already stacked team, they would be a slam dunk favorite to win it all. How many years has an owner like Ted Leonsis been chasing Lord Stanley???
Yup. And note that Skinner has done much of that scoring while buried on the third line with iffy linemates.
And as well rounded as the Caps' forward group is, they could use a guy like Eric who can contribute at both center and wing. And who has made a career out of playing well in post season. It would take a bit of pressure off of their first line guys, and is basically the reason they went out and got Justin Williams this off season. Double down Ted ... all we need is a first rounder and you guys are going to be picking low anyway.
This makes so much sense for everyone concerned.
Weight is in the last year of a five-year contract that pays
him $5.7 million this year, with Carolina picking up $2.1 million
of that salary, Rutherford said.
The Hurricanes also received the rights to left wing Erkki
Rajamaki, currently playing in the Finnish League. They sent right
wing Jesse Boulerice, center Mike Zigomanis and the rights to
unsigned draft pick Magnus Kahnberg to the Blues, along with three
draft picks -- including this year's first-round selection.
Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired right wing Mark Recchi from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Recchi waived his no-trade clause to facilitate the trade to Carolina as the Hurricanes sent left wing Niklas Nordgren, center Krystofer Kolanos and the team’s second-round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft to Pittsburgh
Blues lost their starting goalie Elliot for at least 4 weeks so they may now be in the market for someone to replace him.
Yes, indeed....Cam's recent play may make him more desirable than anyone thought he would be.Interesting ... very interesting.
Trade Cam to St. Louis right around that home game vs. them on the 28th. He can travel with them to their next destination. Or even better trade him right before that game and then remind all of our shooters to go gloveside high especially on the short side.
...that is not Cam Ward.
Why not?
I never saw Cam as an option for any playoff contender as their starter. He is exactly the kind of veteran back-up with an expiring contract that a contender would typically go after to support a younger starter and be available in case of injury. For a quarter of a season, he'll only cost $1.7 million, which can be partially covered by sending a player back the other way.
