GDT: Canes @ Flyers 1/22 6:00 - Rescheduled

Re: GDT: Canes @ Flyers 1/21 7:00 - Postponed

especially to people with tickets to friday's game who may not be able to go on Saturday at noon!  :banghead: :banghead: :prrr:
<<<<------ Like this guy

They damn well better give me some expanded exchange options, *including my parking pass*. Listening over there on EMR?

Re: GDT: Canes @ Flyers 1/21 7:00 - Postponed

6PM allows the Canes to fly out a bit earlier to Buffalo and Philly to fly out to Columbus? Not sure what other reason there would be, but both of the teams' plans I'm sure did not include a late flight on Wednesday night with a road game the following day. This at least buys them an extra hour of sleep at the hotel possibly on Thursday.

Saturday at noon? Well, for those of us who had no tickets to this game I'm anxious to see what the Stubhub market is going to look like once that news goes out. But yeah, they really should give people an option of exchanging their tickets...that is crazy. Might help save me some money and get me some cheap seats, but its still sucky for those who had tickets.

Re: GDT: Canes @ Flyers 1/21 7:00 - Postponed

Ugh ... that just further compresses an already busy couple of weeks for Carolina.

But there's nothing to be done about it, so you just have to roll with the flow I guess. Ed Snyder gets what Ed Snyder wants.

Ya, hope they paid Petey well to give up a Friday night home date. Nothing to be done, but I'm pissed anyway.

So, they're working on it...

@stormchaserbh @jgravleyWRAL Bill, we are working to confirm details and will release them when we can. Thanks for your continued support.

Re: GDT: Canes @ Flyers 1/21 7:00 - Postponed

The Saturday noon change has been made official on the Canes web site as well. They are offering ticket holders a chance to exchange their tickets to the Ottawa game for any of the remaining Friday night games on the schedule (1/31, 2/7, and 3/7). Obviously season ticket holders can already exchange their tickets (of course that doesn't help full season ticket holders all that much).

$2 sodas and and $1 popcorns for the Saturday noon game. I'm sure I will be going to the game now...just a matter of someone giving me a good deal on tickets via Stubhub. Waiting for the number of tickets for sale to increase....might take a day or 2 for that message to get out and people to decide they want to sell their tickets.

Traffic alert. My daughter is participating in a competitive cheer competition all day at dorton arena so traffic might be dicey on that end of trinity.

Meh ... I noticed that the NHL managed to stage games in New York and DC last night on either side of the winter storm ... but not Philly. Thanks for that.

Wow, and the types that show up for these things can be pretty dangerous.

Hockey fans be wary!

Many STH I know, including myself, manage their own split-with-others plan, so yes in general the exchange plan does help. (Not picking on you cmal, I just see this disclaimer a lot)

Re: my previous gripe - I did get a tweet from Michael Smith saying I could use my parking pass on whatever game I traded my tix in for (will word get to the parking drones?). Limiting exchange to Friday games isn't the greatest for me; only one of the 3 Fridays is an option to bring extra folks to - I'm unavailable on the other 2. Better than nothing I guess.

To be fair, the city of Philadelphia declared a snow emergency. Just like the Slugs, the Flyers likely had their hands tied by the city. DC only got 3 or so inches and both they and New York have more extensive subway systems than Philly. In both places, they have direct subway access to the arenas, where Philly doesn't.

Canes now sit tied for last in the Metro division, but with a whole bunch of games in hand on several teams (including the Isles, who have caught us with 49 points but have played 4 more games than us). The Canes HAVE to start winning, and winning a lot though.

We are 5 points out of the last wildcard spot (Columbus, 1 more game played than us).

We are 7 points out of the 3rd spot in the Metro division (Philly, 2 more games played than us)

We are 8 points out of the 2nd spot in the Metro division (NYR, 4 more games played than us)

The Caps are in a free fall having lost 6 in a row. Columbus on the other hand has won 7 in a row.

Assuming an equal number of games played (which eventually happens), the gaps are one point worse than the accounting above, in that we lose the ROW (regulation plus overtime wins) tie-breaker against nearly every team in contention.

So, although the points listed above get us to the tied position, we will need one more point in each instance to actually occupy that spot in the standings.

Not good.

Any word on whether or not tonight's game (1/22) will be on TV here locally in the Raleigh metroplex?

Agreed, we are in a tough spot already. Even if the Canes win 5 in a row starting with tonight we are going to end that 5 games stretch likely still out of a playoff spot. Granted we will be in a better position to challenge for a playoff spot....but actually getting a playoff spot requires another solid winning stretch.

Anyone set a target yet for the minimum number of points is going to take to sneak into the playoffs this year? That's a good way to see how daunting (and unlikely) the Canes task is unless there is a a dramatic improvement in play and consistancy. If they earn 2 out of every 3 points remaining (which I have no faith the Canes can accomplish) that would leave us with 94 points. Is that enough?
