Habs trade PK Subban to Predators for Shea Weber

That's a bullshit survey, PK still hasn't played a game for the Preds. Casual fans don't really follow trades that much. Let's try that survey again in a year and see the difference.

Unfortunately I'm not sure he'll ever reach his potential marketing wise in Nashville.

Big endorsements, headlines and air time go to country stars and football players.

Of course, but if there is one player that can figure it out, it's PK.

I find it a shame that a guy like this doesn't play in a big market like NY, LA, Toronto....I feel he's going to be less visible overall now.
Wiseguy & I were having that discussion a few weeks before the Subban deal - it's more important for NHL/Bettman's "Southern plan" to have Subban in a Preds type market than those big markets. A Subban success story would go a long ways towards solidifying the future of NHL in non-traditional markets - it would justify the "it can be done scenario"

There are plenty of success stories...

Nashville is already a success story. Rink is always sold out, super loud, learning the game.
San Jose is a huge success.
Dallas is pretty solid.
Tampa is pretty solid.

There are bad ones too, but it can be done.

The biggest thing I think is starting minor hockey in the area. Get kids playing and they grow up to be fans, thats what Dallas and San Jose did very well

NHL is a joke promoting its stars . You got this flamboyant black player who is the most marketable player in decades and they dont promote him . He would be the face of the league in other sports.

I'm no fan of the NBA model where players are promoted more than teams. I don't think it's good for a team sport to elevate the individual over the group. I only care about my team.i care about the players on my team while they're on my team. Once they are no longer on my team they are dead to me. The crest on the front of the jersey should always be more important than the name on the back.

Except McDonagh ;)

He won't. He'll become known but stars in Nashville are many.

The sports scene/media in Nashville is minute compared to New York, LA etc. To see Subban make the front pages in these larger markets would have been a nice coupe by the NHL.

Not the NHL's fault. NHL players are mostly boring f ucks who can barely put three words together. The last thing they wan to do is stand out.

PK doesn't the need the league --he's done very well.

he already was in the second biggest biggest NHL market and the NHL still crapped on him
