Hamilton Bulldogs 2013-2014

Zykov> McCarron (if he'll go to Baie Comeau, he'd go to Montreal)

Kreider>Leblanc

geez...are we really smarter than the scouts after all? I'm starting to wonder. To many of us, it was obvious at the time.

Leblanc and Tarnasky both end long goalless streaks 11 games and 10 games respectively. 2-0 Bulldogs after 1.

You have an actual source for that? Or just some vague rumor?

I seem to recall hearing it from somone commentating at the draft and then I heard similar rumours from other people I talked to, Erne wants to play in the States, doesn't want any part of staying in Quebec, yada yada yada. Yeah I know it sounds whacked being that he played his juniors there but thats what I heard, and it was cooborated by a few people I mentioned it to - one said he heard it from a coach in the Q...
Too bad to because, yeah Erne would have been a hell of a prospect, but I'm gonna trust Timmins et al this time that they've done their homework on a guy who could possibly be a big deal (literally). I just can't blame the scouting staff on taking a chance on player they desperately need in a weak draft with a low first round pick with three other picks in the second round.
You're probably right and the guy will bust but if not... He's ours baby!

good points but with this roster of Collberg , Hudon, Bozon, Arturi, etc...who in my opinion are top 6 or bust , they took size with their pick figuring they already have a bunch of riskier picks already in the funnel

plus the Habs were not going to go Russian with thier history of failures like Perezhoghin and MB was not going to go after character issue players like Erne and I do recall an article where Erne didnt want to play for Montreal but dont remember the source

Spot on post. We've got enough dandies in the pipeline that can do one thing really well, and after that, who knows. I seem to recall Perezhogin was a homerun type pick and, obviously it didn't work out, but you're never gonna know if you don't take the odd chance.
And what's wrong with a 25th overall pick in a weak draft topping out as a 10 to 15 goal 3rd (maybe even 2nd) liner with toughness who will scare the living bejesus out of other teams? I still remember how they described him at the draft - "a guy that's uncomfortable to play against...

Better stay away from picking up picks then. How is 2015 shaping up?

Its early and lots can change but 2015 looks excellent. However things always look rosier one year out, because we see all these guys and think what about when he's one year older and a little bit better. The reality is some of those guys will stagnate, and further scouts will pick them apart so they won't look as good as prospects after scouts see more of them.

That said, it does look strong.

2014 looks weak overall, but 2007 was very weak, and we got McDonagh, Max, and PK as three of the top 6 players in that draft, so you can still find gems in a weak draft. Just like the Rangers can find a Hugh Jessiman in the best draft class of the last decade.

Yeah that still kills me. I remember watching that draft and hearing how he was nicknamed "huge specimen". Its comforting to know that someone else did worse than us that year!!

I still can't believe that the 1st overall pick in a generational draft was MAF. A goalie!! Most of the best players were not even in the top 10.

i think the draft is losing some shine

some of the players have only had a good season or two...like richards/carter

but only two players played under 200 NHL games...Belle with 20...Jessiman with 2

ohhh...3 MA Pouliot only played 192
