Leaf Rumours

yes, but I wouldn't put Liles and Gardiner together because both are very good with outlet passes ... I'd rather spread that skillset over 2 different units.

I agree with leaffan2005, Liles and Gardiner are both smart so they don't seem to get in trouble defensively like the others. Phaneuf and Gunnar have been solid so no reason to mess with that either. Bring up Aulie and give him a shot although i don't know whether him and Schenn would work. To me they're both defensively minded and kinda sloppy so could be bad...

Teeds, you really need to stop using your stock analogy with hockey..Last month Kully and Grabo were untouchables, Franson you said is a great player (which he's not) and now you'd start a new rebuild and get rid of all those players? Yikes! Hockey really isn't your thing.

Hey dickhead, I value all the players you mentioned. But you obviously didn't really understand what I was inferring. You gotta start vortexing that water.

You have to make sure that the nucleus of your team is all around the same age. For the most part. Trade valuable pieces to get younger talent back. You have to give to get.

The teams that are just starting to play well have stunk for years. Yeah, there are SOME exceptions, but they are exceptions.

I love Grabs, but you know what? With his size and style of play, he will be lucky to be around in two years, guy is a kamikaze. We are a young team, but our talent at the AHL and OHL level, in my opinion is still third and fourth line material.

Start paragraphing, you are starting to remind me of another poster who does the same thing. And Franson sure did suck on that play, there is absolutely NO getting around it. I really think he and Wilson have come to hate each other as so many players seem to do with Ronnie.

One of my contacts in MLSE says when Ron Wilson is having an off day, he puts out a toxic energy akin to a skunk lifting its tail within three feet of you.

Grabbo won't be back next year.......Connolly will be our 2nd line center in 2012.

Now there is a man who knows the business AND the sport. And if you don't know the business, there is absolutely NO point in cheering for a team run by Tanenbaum. That man keeps the bones from his Swiss Chalet meal to make soup.

What makes you so confident about that? Have you heard Grabo, his agent or Burke publicy state he wont be back? Unless you have then stop assuming things. Its just as likely he'll sign a new deal in the offseason to remain a leaf for the next several years as it is being traded or let go come July 1st, nobody knows what will happen, remember Burke doesnt like to deal with contracts until after the season is over.

I don't need to hear shit.....I'm omniscient son.

I bet Burke is circling around the 0-7-1 Blue Jackets...
What do the Jackets have that we'd even want? Pretty much all of their decent players are signed to absolutely atrocious contracts that I wouldn't want to see us touch with a ten-foot pole. Of course, if we could get a desperate Scott Howson to cough up their 1st round pick for some immediate help....

If we can't trade our superfluous guys for a first line center, I'd trade the same potential package for their 1st.

Bozak, Franson, MacArthur?

And with their 1st, maybe we could swing a deal for a 1st line center at the deadline.

Or the Leafs could grab Columbus' first, keep it, win the Draft Lottery, and then draft another Muslim in Yakupov. EPIC GTA MARKETING STRATEGY.

Rick Nash.

I think they should fire Howson. That seems a smarter idea to me than trading their best player.

Trading their first rounder would be pretty ridiculous too...it's going to be very tough for the Jackets to come back from an 0-8 start, so that pick is minimum top 10 and likely top 5.

Mind you, teams have done more ridiculous things, like the Flames trading Dion Phaneuf for a couple bags of Doritos for instance.

That doesn't look like a package that would be worth giving up a potential #1 overall pick for, but like Darryl Sutter, I guess it all depends on how desperate the GM is to save his own job, and how much lattitude in trades ownership is willing to give a GM that's on the hot seat. But I'm with Jays...if by some miracle we pulled off a deal that landed us a pick that has serious potential to be #1 overall, you hang onto it and draft Yakupov. Kid scored 101 points in 65 games for Sarnia last year, and he's currently on pace to improve that total by another 45 points this year.
