I agree with leaffan2005, Liles and Gardiner are both smart so they don't seem to get in trouble defensively like the others. Phaneuf and Gunnar have been solid so no reason to mess with that either. Bring up Aulie and give him a shot although i don't know whether him and Schenn would work. To me they're both defensively minded and kinda sloppy so could be bad...
Teeds, you really need to stop using your stock analogy with hockey..Last month Kully and Grabo were untouchables, Franson you said is a great player (which he's not) and now you'd start a new rebuild and get rid of all those players? Yikes! Hockey really isn't your thing.
Grabbo won't be back next year.......Connolly will be our 2nd line center in 2012.

What makes you so confident about that? Have you heard Grabo, his agent or Burke publicy state he wont be back?

What do the Jackets have that we'd even want? Pretty much all of their decent players are signed to absolutely atrocious contracts that I wouldn't want to see us touch with a ten-foot pole. Of course, if we could get a desperate Scott Howson to cough up their 1st round pick for some immediate help....I bet Burke is circling around the 0-7-1 Blue Jackets...

If we can't trade our superfluous guys for a first line center, I'd trade the same potential package for their 1st.
Bozak, Franson, MacArthur?
And with their 1st, maybe we could swing a deal for a 1st line center at the deadline.
Rick Nash.
That doesn't look like a package that would be worth giving up a potential #1 overall pick for, but like Darryl Sutter, I guess it all depends on how desperate the GM is to save his own job, and how much lattitude in trades ownership is willing to give a GM that's on the hot seat. But I'm with Jays...if by some miracle we pulled off a deal that landed us a pick that has serious potential to be #1 overall, you hang onto it and draft Yakupov. Kid scored 101 points in 65 games for Sarnia last year, and he's currently on pace to improve that total by another 45 points this year.If we can't trade our superfluous guys for a first line center, I'd trade the same potential package for their 1st.
