This artificial reduction of the cap this year was maybe the stupidest thing that came out of the new CBA.

ridiculous that we don't have the same cap or more than last year to sign these two guys.
 
The fact our GM hasn't managed this reduced cap isn't excused by the reduction based on New CBA. Not like it was a surprise. He had a lot of cap room going into the offseason.
 
If Kadri missing some of camp I'll be pissed. When's the last time a young player had a good season following missing time over contract negotiations?

Kadri and Franson still not signed. Can someone spell disastrous miscalculation by this board AND Nonis for the worth of Phaneuf. Nonis cannot give him away. And stuff the worthless media comes up with? Please.

Training camp is overrated. I doubt missing it would have any negative impact on Kadri, but him missing any of the regular season would certainly have a negative impact on the Leafs. Without him, our center group is Bozak-Bolland-McClement-Colborne. Ouch.

Franson missing any time would have less impact, but only because the depth we already have in terms of puck-moving D, with Phaneuf, Gardiner, Liles and potentially Rielly. No matter what though, there's no doubt that Nonis has hugely mis-managed our cap this summer, unless he's got quite a trick up his sleeve. I hate that the only option we're stuck with is to try and force Franson and Kadri to unhappily accept cheap, short-term "bridge" contracts. It would've been a lot better if we could've locked both of them up to affordable long-term deals, like we did with Lupul.
 
Let me try to crack through some of you doubters heads in one more way. Do you really think Nonis thinks so little of Kadri and Franson, so as to have this little money for the two of them? And that he is THAT stupid?

He isn't that stupid, problem is, everyone in the NHL saw Phaneuf puss out in the last four minutes of regular play in game seven, and upper MLSE management reacted so strongly, everyone in the NHL knows they want Phaneuf out of town. AND that the Leafs have no dough for Kadri and Franson.

nah I missed most of that draft stuff. I pretty much exiled hockey for a few months that year. The only thing I caught was the Forsberg stuff.
 
Teeds made up some bullshit about the Leafs being interested in this non-descript, little-known Minnesota high school defenceman named Jake Horton and was convinced the Leafs were going to select him fifth overall.

He got into a screaming match with me and a few other posters for probably 50 draft pages, doubled down, called us all sorts of names, insisted he was privy to some sort of internal confidential information from the team's scouts and then the draft passed without Horton even being drafted.

Teeds then disappeared for months.
