heh. that's even better than I thought. I thought it was just teeds messing up Nathan Horton's name, but his insiders telling him an undrafted midget was going to go 5th overall is pretty awesome.
 
The funniest thing was Horton wasn't even listed in the ISS or CSS lists and we had to do some digging at the time to confirm that he even existed.
 
Methinks that "insider" was pranked, and should not be considered an insider at all.

As for Kadri, Franson - they have the option of fitting themselves into preseason games by signing a short-term bridge deal -or- they sit until such time that their long-term contract ideas fit the cap.

Nonis isn't even sweating either of these contract negotiations.

You watch, if the Leafs are over the cap by the end of training camp (they can overspend by 10% in the summer months) - they'l miraculously have an injury that will get them under the cap - or a player will be loaned to the KHL until the playoffs.

The way I remember things, he insisted that the Leafs and a few other teams were desperate to move up to #1 to select Forsberg. He kept mentioning that the Leafs were interested in "Horton" as well. You then called him out on the fact that there was no player named "Horton" on any list of draft eligible prospects. True to form, instead of admitting that he was wrong or lying, he dug up an 18 year-old kid named Jake Horton, who was at the time a middling player in the "North American Hockey League".

Despite the fact that this kid obviously had as much chance of being drafted as any of us did when we were 18, he declared this as proof that he was right and Jays was wrong and demanded that Jays apologize and we all acknowledge his insider information.
 
He also only referred to the player as Horton, not Jake, until it was discovered Jake Horton was the only Horton he could have meant.

In the entirety of this summer, you're the only person I know that's mentioned Phaneuf being on the ice for that goal. Literally, the only one.

I think this has less to do with the board liking Phaneuf and more to do with your severe dislike of him.

I've mentioned this as well. He's the only person going on and on about it. He's nutty to have watched those last 10 minutes and put all the blame on Phaneuf. Our coach went full moron those last 10 minutes BTW.
 
The Leafs are totally fffed on this situation. Upper MLSE management is more furious than ever. Kadri is NOT happy at all. And that is not big teeder news, any fool could anticipate that or feel it, or read about it. Franson is MORE than steamed.

Two of our top five guys left with 4.6 cap? And you guys don't believe the truth about Phaneuf YET???

Some things are going well apparently, Kessel now that Bozak is here to stay wants to re-sign and that IS outstanding news. BUT no Kadri OR Franson? Horrible.

Nonis and Lar r y realize that no one woud pick up Phaneuf if they put him on waivers. NO one. Everyone saw the push.
