Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

Is it possible Robertson's ready as soon as next season? Friedman speculated he could be an emergency call up this season even.

Sure is.

Amazingly, we could be in position to trade 2 or even all 3 of kappy AJ and kerfoot.

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Mikheyev - Tavares - Nylander
Moore - Engvall - Robertson
Timashov - Gauthier - Petan

If Engval can hack it as an NHL center.. That's kind of a perfect 3c. Might already be better than Kerfoot AND he'll be cheaper. Not convinced on Moore as a 3w but worst case they can keep AJ... Might have to unless Hyman decides to take a sweetheart deal on his next contract. He grew up rich as fuck so who knows, maybe he's generous. If not, I'd have a hard time justifying what he'll get as great as he is.

Yeah trading all 3 would be a bit overboard but its looking like 1 is a must and 2 probably doable.

Trade Hyman before one of those guys. Much as I like him, he’s probably not as important a contributor anymore with Engvall and Mikky. Kapanen and Johnsson could potentially still be cheap and effective first or second liners. I know I’d want to see Johnsson on that first line instead of Hyman.

Also love that you guys are coming around on the Goat. For him to make Zeke’s projected lineup...

I think hyman might be just better than them.

Nah. His goals are literally all pure luck and empty nets. We can leave the grinding along the boards to others for league minimum.

And I’m saying this as a fan of Hyman and what he brings to the table. I think we have better versions of him now.

I dunno. Hyman has literally been part of one of the elite lines in hockey every year of his career, even with different linemates.

I'm not like a Hyman fanatic or anything but he literally had a beauty top shelf goal on the back hand two days ago so probably bad timing for this one.

If I had to rank them in order of preference to trade, I'd probably have it Kapanen, Johnsson, Hyman. Combination of reasons -- cap hit, potential return, position/who's ahead of them on the roster, style.

So we’ll pay him $3.5, $4m? He needs to stay at the $2m level, but he’s not going to want that. Both sides will have outgrown each other by the end of his contract.

If he costs 3.5 or 4m that's probably better value than all of Kap, Kerf and AJ. I worry he costs more, because I think he gets it on the open market.

I’m actually thinking of that one when I say this. He did well to get into the zone but then lightly backhanded it off the goalie’s shoulder, off the post, and in.

Johnson might have a wee bit more offensive flair than Kapanen, but in the playoffs I want Kappy and Hyman playing. Just me. I want a fast and heavy lineup.

Johnson blows out his tires too often for my liking. And he ain't all that great defensively.

I would love to sell high on a guy like him who has busted himself to get to where he is now.

Not only that. JT-Mucho weren't looking too hot until he returned.

Before and after Hyman’s return ...

JT:
xGF%: 48.43 --> 53.54
p60: 0.72 --> 2.1

Marner:
xGF%: 48.14 --> 58.96
p60: 1.05 --> 4.76

Aside: Marner's big production numbers this season are due to a 9-game uberhot streak.

Hard to tell what's Hyman and what's the coaching change though.

Hyman, have to give him credit. A lot of credit. Guy has become quite a player. Boy, is he up for a resign as well? Ughh. We are going to lose some good players soon.

Thanks be to god they got rid of Babcock, as hockeylover said, it should have been sooner. But I guess Shanahan didn't want egg on his face and had more loyalty to the cock, than he did to his teammate Craig Janney.

As amazing as we are, and are playing. We still gotta keep racking up the points because of the poor start.
