OT: American Politics

Small European country? Like France? Or Germany? Or Italy? Or Spain?

You've made some dumb comments in the past but this takes the cake.

Europe, collectively, trumps russia in every conceivable way. If the actually took care of their militaries properly like they are supposed to Russia would be no threat, even without the help of the Americans.

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Turkey. Small countries? You must be high.

You conveniently ignore the Nato members who are closest to Russia.... Latvia, Estonia, Slovenia, etc..... Countries we'd be feeding to the wolves if the US is pre-occupied with a major war with china.

They are targeting Clinton. Clearly. What I've been disputing is this narrative the left is trying to create linking Trump with the Russians.

Prominent Republicans, including Mitch McConnell knew this information two weeks before the election. There was a report to high profile members of both parties in the last two weeks before the election. The democrats recommended a bipartisan statement to inform the public about it. The republicans refused, and said if the Democrats said anything they would accuse them of playing partisan politics with intelligence from the community.

The Republicans knew the Russians were interfering in the election. They knew that their servers were hacked and nothing was being released, it was all on the dems.

And they choose to say nothing about this.

Even if they weren't overtly acting with the Russians.... they did nothing to stop the Russian efforts from influencing the public. They were complicit in allowing it to happen.

And thats even ignoring the mountains of circumstantial evidence that ties many members of Trumps campaign teams, and his transition team to the Russians.

But sure, he knew nothing... lets go with that.

To think there was actually a human being out there that believed Clinton was running a child porn operation out of a pizza parlor and felt compelled to act on it is an indictment on the human race. The level of idiocy is astounding. Yeah, let's keep propping up the lowest common denominator of our species. Good thinking.

You must not know a lot about the Falklands conflict.

The brits lost ships, lost planes, lost troops. Would a battle of Taiwan be larger in scale, sure, but I expect the same limited operations, and for both nations not to go into a total war setting.

No war since 1939-1945 has been total war, I wouldn't expect one over taiwan to heat up that much.

Talking to you guys is depressing, I'm not sure if you realize this isn't ww3 we are talking about, it's on par with the Korean war.

A war that is estimated to have killed 3.5 million people total (all sides of the conflict, civilian + military casualties)

What a joke. Prominent Democrats knew also and said nothing. The story today cites anonymous sources, they could have easily done it then too. A threat of being accused of partisan politics is a slap on the hand, give me a break, they're always accused of partisan politics.

You also imply that if positions were reversed the Democrats would run right out and release a report that still has no conclusive evidence of motive. It's politics, of course they're going to hold it. You don't think Obama holds shit?

You're grasping at circumstantial straws here and would get utterly destroyed in court and you know it. Sometimes I'm truly surprised at you.

They hacked both parties early.

Once they knew the nominees, the information started trickling out, but only on one side.
Seriously? You seriously think if it was Cruz they wouldn't have dumped Clinton's closet? Are you capable of critical thinking?

You seriously think this was done for Trump instead of against Clinton? There is a difference.

If I had the full CIA report in front of me, I'm pretty sure it would be easy to prove on a balance of probabilities that the RNC was at the very least complicit in the act, as they knew of it and did nothing to stop it.

I don't think it matters. The fact that the Russians were allowed to influence the election in favor of the candidate they preferred (or against the candidate they didn't want) is reason enough to be concerned by this.

You couldn't prove that information was obtained from the RNC. Even the times article quoted them as saying they couldn't confirm what, if anything, was taken.

As for the RNC, what were they complicit in? You're making assumptions that the report was definitive. I guarantee you there was plausible deniability for them to refuse a bipartisan statement.

All this outrage about possible/likely foreign interference in a US election is a bit humorous when you consider how often the US has interfered in the elections of other countries. It doesn't make what the Russians are accused of doing right but it is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

I've mentioned that a couple of times already. It's so hypocritical it's laughable.

You know Clinton was involved with overthrowing Quadaffi and was involved in interfering with other countries. She gets targeted and it's a travesty.

He's a thin-skinned tool but the real pieces of shit are the morons that act on his idiotic tweets.

the 69 year old man who started a twitter fight with an 18 year old girl, while his employees simultaneously leaked that girl's name/twitter handle to the public... is a pretty real piece of shit.

Of course. I've said numerous times they need to tighten their security to prevent this, or worse, from happening again. The way this is being presented though is partisan rancor trying to directly link Trump and the Russians. It's no different than the birther movement. There is no clear evidence to support it.

That said, Trump did champion the birther issue so this is a little payback coming his way.

er, being mad at russia isn't really the point here.

Yes but did he just walk up and grab her...

Yes, he's a pos. I've seen better characters in criminals.
