OT: American Politics

I have a completely off topic question which I am opening up to all of you here.

I got into an argument with somebody on Facebook yesterday because she was gushing all over Melania Trump and how much she liked her. I posted a comment about how Melania is an enabler of Donald and not an innocent victim in all of this. I said she is much like the rest of the Trump family in that she is trying to cash in while Donald is in office. The reason I said that was because she is involved in a lawsuit with a newspaper where her own lawyer says the newspaper is doing damage to Melania's potential earnings as first lady which they estimate as 150 million dollars.

Next thing I know this girl and all of her hard left NDP buddies are calling me a victim bashing POS. Yeah, it escalated quickly.

Seems like they feel that Melania is a victim in all of this and that Donald abuses her (verbally). So basically, if you do not think she is an abuse victim then you are a victim basher. The girl I was talking to initially said that I must hate sex worker who marry for money.

The whole conversation when nuts and I bowed out because there was no winning with this crowd.

Anyways, I was curious what you all thought. Is Melania a victim or is she an enabler?
I don't see her as an enabler. She sold her soul for money and comfort.

She isn't a victim either.

When you try to discuss anything with people who use terms like "victim bashing" you're going to have a bad time.

Boy is that the truth.

They also brought out the white male privilege line at me.

I had to block a few of them because they started flooding my timeline. It was really insane.

I'm pretty sure that we could make a list of about a dozen buzz words/terms that as soon as you see them in a conversation, you can pretty much be sure that the person you're speaking with isn't interested in a discussion, but instead is looking to unleash their righteous anger in your direction for having the audacity to disagree with their world view.

A few of those can be used ironically to make a point and a few others can be used within specific contexts without it signalling an impending shitshow of bad logic, but if any of those are being used seriously, it's a good rule of thumb to assume that the person using them seriously is a complete twit until they prove otherwise.

Basically, there are entrenched groups of nutters on both sides of the fight and the language they use provides a pretty decent window into their lack of ability to converse with others like a thinking human.

Wow, I saw a few of those in the same sentence last night. And they were being used seriously.

They seem to like to run in packs as well. There was suddenly a few people yelling at me from out of nowhere.

It was quite the experience.

All the fake outrage, hysteria on both sides of the aisle.

great compilation -- a lot of them are on my list of things I like to ridicule. Just the other day, I was trying to convince a few women that 90% of the time "mainsplaining" is just explaining. They would have none of it -- I told them we owe them a few gender specific derogatory terms.

outrage requires very little research/knowledge and doesn't care about real data

I honestly think these morons have no idea the U.S could dictate their own emissions as per the Paris accord. It was hardly a "Bad Deal". It was such a great deal even North Korea agreed to it. Yes, North Korea.
