OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Officially tested positive this am. Symptoms are a migraine that some cold and sinus meds seemed to get under control and some uncomfortable sweats, as well as what feels like a mild cold.
Ok is this the new variant that's doing this because I know 4 people here that have covid now.

When I return home Monday how long should I avoid society to ensure I don't have it

Incubation period generally tops out at 5 days. If you're not developing symptoms after 5 days back in country, it's unlikely that you got it. The symptoms are stealthy at first though. Scratchy throat, weird sinus pressure, etc. If you get through 5 full days without any of that, you're probably good. Self test as well, but if you've got a scratchy throat while testing negative, you've probably got it and the will start testing positive within the next day or two

Incubation period is really short now which prolly has a lot to do with immunity in addition to the new variants. Your immune system starts fighting it quicker (since it now recognizes the threat far better) so symptoms can even come as little as a day post exposure. It likely took DP a long time to become symptomatic because he was infected later than day 1 of Mrs. DP positive test. A full week to become symptomatic is nearly impossible at this stage.

Cool, figured I would avoid the office until atleast week of Aug 9th. Avoid friends until next weekend sounds good as well.

He's not wrong re: vaccines. They make plenty of long haulers worse. It's a crapshoot when they get vaxxed. Better, worse or no difference.

Shitty tho.

I'm on day 3 after my positive test and symptoms are lightening up. Nose a little stuffed but I can breath through it. Aches pretty much gone, energy level coming back a bit. Will probably test tomorrow to see if it comes back negative.

It took my 5 days to test positive, I was already through most of it. Found it interesting that I got some anxiety when I tested positive, but the symptoms started to get better the next day which helped a lot. Hope you all are feeling better soon!
Thanks for this. I’m actually getting people telling me that because I have tested negative multiple times that what I have is not actually COVID and that I should be going into work/join them for a cottage weekend etc.

Even if the negative test is accurate you obviously have something and of course should not be going into work until you are better.

Of course if they insist you could offer to go to the cottage with them and share with them what you do have.

my anecdotal understanding of omi is that is can take longer to test positive after the onset of symptoms than other variants. know someone who had four or five days of symptoms before getting a positive test and heard other similar stories.

but the general maxim of, 'if you feel unwell, stay home' seems to be reasonable and apply here.

my paralegal just tested positive for covid again today. think this is, from what I can remember, at least the fourth time she has had it.
