OT: Soccer thread

Interesting that Davies is in the middle of the park, with those turbo wheels and what not. But if he’s demonstrating ACMF capabilities AND that speed… ouf.

But it’s Qatar… maybe an experiment,

yuge yuge yuge test starting in 5 minutes against a top 15 team in the world in Uruguay filled with world class stars.

biggest test yet for this canada squad by far.

ugh all sorts of technicial difficulties and the one stream i can find is absolute shite.

anyone have a good one?

plenty of possession and dangerous possession at that. not showing the finishing we usually do. but should probably have a goal by now.

but yeah, the backline has always been the big worry with this squad and while the first goal was just a great FK they've still been exposed badly a few times.

59% possession and made 95 more passes than them. more shots too. 0-2 is a bit harsh but a good lesson to learn. if those defenders are able to learn.

nice to see Canada playing on the front foot at least. that's the way they have to play and enouraging that they're not holding back.

Herdman's faith in Johnston was starting to convince me but yeah he's definitely poop. I'd be tempted to use guys like Laryea and Hutchinson in the backline tbh.

missed that call.

but there was an early offsides call on Davies that looked very wrong and he seemed about to pull away on a break.

This was a big test for us. I find our D and transition from D to midfield has been very sloppy during the qualifications. This will be exposed by top teams unfortunately.

We are not a top tier team though, so it's best to manage expectations.
