OT: The Bell Fucking Canada Thread

Your tax dollars hard at work with the neverending trough for corporations that already enjoy federal legislation to enable their hoarding.

People are infantile when they decide to view corporations as consistent beings...the left hand often doesn't know what the right hand is doing/thinking

both these things can be true:

--- some very important Bell execs genuinely care about Mental Health issues and decided that their company should take a leadership position and spearhead a nationwide dialogue

--- some very important Bell execs looked at the numbers and decided to fire a lot of folks

I don't...but they're complicated.

I only love the marijuana corporations. Peace, Love and High Margins.

Are we canceling let's talk because they made a decision to let folks go? Weird angle. Did Bell complain when Dan O'Toole took his talents to the US? It can go both ways folks.

the broadcast content model is broken

does anyone have a link to a live stream?
same poster:
fuck Bell for firing people

I feel as though I have been pretty consistent in my positions on this topic! 😏

it doesn't bother you that an extremely wealthy corporation, shortly after receiving taxpayer funds for the purposes of paying their employees salaries, shortly turns around and shitcans those same employees despite growing revenues?

When you are in the same boat as Vince McMahon, you are truly amongst scumbags.

Vince and the WWE released 47 employees at the onset of the Pandemic and had record breaking profits this year.

And because those said employees had non compete clauses some couldn't get jobs for months.

I hate seeing people lose their jobs...I've been in that position, suffering a few broadcast restructurings myself, and surviving many others while watching colleagues being let go. It's brutal.

the media landscape in this country is complicated...it's completely propped up by taxpayer money and protected by the CRTC....Bell and Rogers would be nothing burgers if our government didn't prevent foreign media from taking over. That kind of worked until the Internet...

I have no love for either Bell or Rogers. And yet, I'm not ready to cede the country to the likes of AT&T and Viacom.

Like I said, it's complicated and I don't have a great answer
