OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Raptors trail by 4 at the half. Same old Raptors with iffy defense and terrible shot selection. Also James Johnson has yet to make an appearance for some reason. Hopefully Toronto can get there shit together in this second half.

If this series doesn't go well, I'm hoping Masai does something ballsy and axes Casey. His handling of the rotation this season has been abysmal. If the team was playing defence along the lines of his reputation, I'd be better with his man management, but it hasn't...so **** it. I don't doubt that a better tactical coach could get more out of this group.

Anyone else hear that cackling woman counting down the shot clock every time? My god that is driving me nuts. It's gotta be driving the players batty as well.

Demar plays so soft sometimes. Scared to attack the rim ffs. Falling in love with the three and just kicking it out. Put hainsborough and Val like in the first

Raptors have been frustrating to watch for months now, and Casey hasn't made any adjustments to change that. Just got to hope they get hot with their jump shots, otherwise they aren't winning this series.

Agree with all of this, this team has a lot of talent and a lot of good pieces but all year the rotations and offensive/defensive schemes have been so strange and don't fit with the personnel.

A buddy of mine on facebook just equated the Raptors shot selection to that of a South Carolinian Police Office.

Can someone also explain why James Johnson hasn't played (I'm switching around so I don't know if he has but I haven't seen him). Isn't the reason why we got him is because of pierce. Baffling

Casey just doesn't like him for some reason.

Luckily the Wizards have almost the same terrible shot selection. This has been some bad basketball this game between two talented but terribly coached teams.

The best part is...Casey doesn't like him because JJ helps too much on defence. He's had JJ running drills in practice recently specifically designed to keep him on his man and not "over help"....which is bullshit imo.

Casey is very much of a round peg/square peg coach. If you don't implement his system exactly the way he wants, regardless of what's going on around you or how the team should be running/defending a set, you enter his dog house. Val getting crucified for not being able to adequately defend guards coming off of the high screen is another example....instead of thinking to himself "hey, maybe we don't need to chase every 31% 3pt shooting PG over the screen", he shreds Val for not defending PG's well 18 feet from the ****ing rim.

Shit game. If we're looking for some reason for optimism, we played as poorly as possible and still took them to overtime. Hopefully we can come out a lot stronger and take the next one. Washington is not that good.
