It's over bud. Trade Kyle for Herro and a 1st (bring him back in the summer if you want to pay for him). You'll get another 1st and another good prospect for Norm. Just do it and play out the string. We're currently drafting 8th, I'm okay with quietly embracing this as a fucked up retool year. Take those extra picks we get at the deadline and go shopping (Collins? Maybe KAT has finally had enough?) in the off season.

Exactly , treat this year as one of those “ everything went wrong “ years and reboot

It was the deadline strategy to take anyways

Norm , priced himself out of Toronto and we love you Kyle but what we have now is not contending

Norm at OG+ type money caps us out with a decent team that’s it , while Kyle can only be a 10-12 mil player if we even entertain a return

I like Norm but this to me is more of a contract year “ heroics “ and buyer beware in the marketplace

Time to develop Flynn , Herro or who ever we can pull of this week

It’s a solid draft and team is great at finding diamonds .

Team needs a retool as our once great bench depth is terrible right now.

The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are leaders in pursuit to acquire Lowry, sources told The Athletic, and several rival team executives are monitoring the situation as well as which young player or asset either team could part with. Lowry has spent the last nine years in Toronto, cementing himself as a legacy player for the Raptors and as arguably the best player in franchise history. Lowry’s arrival in Toronto predated Masai Ujiri’s presidency, and to fans, he represents a through line that connects the Raptors’ fight for relevancy at the beginning of his time with the franchise to their current status as one of the league’s most respected organizations.

Those with knowledge of Lowry’s mindset believe he wants to compete for a championship, however, and that is what makes this season in Toronto so complicated. Lowry and the Raptors have built such a relationship that both sides would work on any potential trade or decision for him to stay through the deadline, and the latter scenario would leave for a more organic end to the campaign prior to his summer free agency.

In Philadelphia and Miami, there is familiarity for Lowry. Philadelphia is home for Lowry, and the 76ers have held the top seed in the Eastern Conference all season. In Miami, Lowry would join a contender where he holds a close relationship with Heat star Jimmy Butler and where he would stay in-state, having played in Tampa all season. The Clippers would also have interest in Lowry, as our Sam Amick recently wrote, but the combination of contracts necessary and their lack of draft assets make a trade difficult.

Toronto is 17-25 so far this season and recently endured a turbulent run of key starters and coaches in the NBA’s health and safety protocols. As of now, they are 3.5 games behind the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and just 2.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls for the 10th, play-in seed. Multiple teams are also expected to express interest in the Raptors’ other pending free agent, Norman Powell, who has an $11.6 million player option for next season.

Teams are monitoring whether the Raptors would be able to receive a young player from either the 76ers or Heat, and the effects a potential move might have on the trade market.

Several teams remain engaged in talks regarding Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie. Sources said the Pistons, Heat and Raptors have shown interest in Dinwiddie with the ability to use his Bird rights and offer him a deal for up to five years in free agency. Dinwiddie is expected to opt out of his $12.3 million player option for next season.

Several teams have expressed interest in Kings center Richaun Holmes, including Toronto and Charlotte, sources said. Holmes, a 6-foot-10 big man, has developed into a highly productive starting center for Sacramento, averaging 14 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 30.1 minutes a night. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and should command a strong market.

What’s up with Siakam? I kept excusing his poor bubble play to the fact he spent a large portion of the pause stuck in his condo. We gave him max money to be a max player and if this is the real Siakam we may have lost that gamble.

Teams pay very good to lower tier star type players max money on their second deal , always been a flaw in the system .

Max money should be true difference makers and scorers who takeover games

Its even worse when third fiddle players like Tobias Harris are making 35 mil a year and then are available at trade deadlines every year .
 
as long as we do right by Kyle, don't really care about the rest.

from a team building perspective, makes the most sense to trade him. especially if he's gone in the offseason anyways.
 
Knox feels like a bust, but he might just be Knicked.

I doubt they move Toppin.

I'd want a 22 non protected 1st if possible just in case this Knick team is indeed a mirage

I wouldn't be hung up on Herro if they were throwing more picks instead to make it all work. Herro is a bit of an analytics mess, I just see the bones for a very poors man's Luca there but there's necessary development needed for him to be more than a volume chucker who can't defend.

Pascal needs the summer off and shit to get back to normal. Whatever has happened to his routine since the bubble/disapora era started has fucked him up. He needs to be back in Toronto doing whatever it was that was normal for him.

Lowry is mid statistical decline and cashing in on him now is probably the right thing. We'll miss him, but father time is in the middle of taking him away from us anyway, let's cash in on his reputation and let him finish his career making bank that would be dumb for us to pay him. Norm is an obvious one, great asset to the organization for a long time. Great bench scorer that helped us merk Milwaukee in the ECF. We're going to get great assets for both.

Take the cap, the picks, the prospects and go chasing a disgruntled star in trade. Like I said in a previous post, I'd be really interested in seeing what it would take to pry Kat out of Minnesota.

yeah it's clear that the current version of the Raps is missing too many key pieces to justify riding Lowry's twilight into the sunset.

and who are we kidding, Kyle is a competitor, he'll be miserable here during any kind of retool. earlier in the year I would have come to a different conclusion but the players and their performance the past couple weeks speaks for itself.
