as for the Siakam fine. He’s been a bitch since the bubble. I’m not sure if a summer off or whatever will remedy the situation. His play has been inconsistent, his body language not good. I’m starting to lean towards this guy cashing in and not bringing the same intensity/effort that made him MIP. We barely see drives to the basket, the defense is hot and cold. He’s probably best suited being a 2/3 option and it’s likely impacting his game.

When is Masai’s contract up?

Have to figure he’s definitely pulling the chute now, at the earliest opportunity.

I've put a bunch of thought into it, and Bobby Webster is his hand-picked guy that does a ton of his grunt work, draft management, etc. Masai credits Bobby as the driving force behind the Kawhi trade, is our resident Raptors version of Pridham, etc. If he's our guy going forward (which would make a lot of sense), I don't think we're going to lose too much in the culture/vision/cap management/scouting department.

I mean, I hope Masai fucking stays, but Webster would basically be our Dubas.

All you can ask out of Webster is to keep doing the right things

Draft and develop , find sleepers , and make those timely deals to help the team improve .

The reason most teams stink for a decade like Detroit , Magic , Knicks , etc …. is their regime is clueless on team building , drafting , trades and other elements of team chemistry . In other words the opposite of the Raps

You cant be a lottery team that long and stink year in and out and develop no one .

Raps are at a crossroads and need a reboot . I trust Webster if he is the man to do well .

As much as I greatly value Masai, it's not like I think he can consistently replicate what he did a few years ago.

He's not finding Kawai's on the trade block every year... or Siakams late in the first round...or Van Fleets out of the draft, etc, etc. That shit requires a little luck too...

Like you said, he ushered in his brand of culture/vision/cap management/scouting department. That won't leave if it's properly maintained by current management (all hand picked by Masai)
 
Masai got lucky that Knicks nixed the Lowry trade and SAS spite traded Kawhi to Siberia.

Prove me wrong.
