As a general rule I don't trust NCAA white boy prospects. So many national player of the year, conference player of the year, etc are white boys and so few of them turn into more than back of the bench NBA options.
Euro white boys are built different apparently, but NCAA american white boys? Nah. Only NCAA white guys I can think of in the top 50 NBA players is Chet (and he's 2nd team All-Unicorn). 99% of NCAA white boys end up as some sort of specialist. Some of them end up really, really good specialists but it's all Sam Hausers, and iHart's. Sprinkle in the occasional 2nd-3rd tier bucket getters like prime Hayward & Herro, and that's more or less it.
Hopefully Gradey turns out more like Hayward/Herro than Hauser, Korver, Joe, etc but as a class of prospects we're better off looking elsewhere if we want players with plus starter upside.

JJ was the epitome of white boy specialist technology though. He did one thing at a super elite level (shoot) and a second thing at a good level (move without the ball to get open to shoot) and that was it. Everything else was below average. No D, no offence off of the dribble, no rebounding, meh as a playmaker/passer despite being 6'3, white and allegedly being a point guard.
That's kind of what I'm saying about 99% of elite NCAA white guys. They crush the NCAA but then get to the league, have massive holes in their games that push them into specialist roles and that's their career. Not a damn thing wrong with that, but when I start seeing people talk about 23 yr old seniors like Knecht. 6'3 guards with no athleticism who do most of their damage in catch and shoot like Sheppard, just no.
Fwiw, I like Knecht's game. More versatile than the typical catch and shoot guy. Can do some work off of the dribble, mid post, good but just good athlete. Kind of a swiss army knife mid sized wing. Doesn't really pass or defend though, so if his scoring doesn't translate (again, 4th yr senior, so he's more developed than most of his competition), he's going to be in tough to develop as a 3D specialist.
At the Pacers pick? Maybe, though I much prefer Missi if he's there. At the 6, I very much want Dillingham, and I don't care about the overlap between he and IQ. I think he ends up a better version of IQ and turns IQ into an elite trade chip within 2-3 years.

Gravy stands a decent chance at ending up more in the mold of Hayward/Herro/Rex Chapman/Thunder Dan Majerle/ (only white comparisons here baby, don't @ me) than a pure shooting specialist, yeah.

No, you are still a hatefilled asshole directing that hate at one specific group of people....but most people understand and accept that with Italians.
