OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

If we have a chance to win this series i really hope Lowry isn't hurt. Just got an update that he is questionable for Friday and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

I want to hate this guy but I can't...

@MrMichaelLee: Paul Pierce shouting on the way to the locker room after #wizards Game 2 win: "I don't want to go through customs no more."

Paul Pierce is too funny.

That guy does not give a shit about fans of the opposition.

As for coach, f*ck thats a tough call to make. You fire a guy after 2 of the best seasons in franchise history? If Masai does fire Casey and the new guy isn't able to provide the same level of success the Raptors have had it will end up being Masai on the hot seat.

I don't know who is better and available.

I also am not sure it's as simple as "fire the coach". Coach Jesus would have trouble winning if his all-star point guard was out there scoring 6 points and 4 assists in a playoff game. Casey's inability to figure out a team defense that works for this group is mind-boggling, though. Out of the names mentioned, I'm a big-time George Karl fan, if he'd be willing to come here.

Damn, totally forgot about that.

I do feel like Masai's earned my trust to this point, he should have a pretty good idea by now whether the coach needs to be replaced or not. I think it will probably happen if they whimper to a loss in this series, but we'll see. It's not over yet, but they've got to get the next one to have any chance.

The best way to evaluate a coach is through process not product. Did the coach get the most out of the club he was given, as opposed to whether or not a middling level of success was achieved. What you can't do is judge him against our dismal franchise history, if you have any intention on exorcising that history.

Casey has this team playing bad team defence, with offence only propped up by a relatively high talent level.

I think the biggest thing that is going to be irking Masai is that Casey has clearly gone his own way with his rotation and usage, and it's failing badly. Masai is a big believer in analytics, and Casey continues to sit 2 of the biggest analytic darlings (both Masai signings) in JJ & Tyler. If we weren't regularly getting killed on the glass, and weren't utilizing an offence that really only chucks shots and prays for Amir & Val to get on the offensive glass, I could see Masai excusing Casey's usage patterns a bit more. But it has to grind Masai that the club looks like this, while not being utilized in the most effective manner according to the numbers.

Some key Caseyism's that I find very troubling, this season:
a) our inability to rebound defensively; (often a product of (b))
b) his midget rotation, leaving Val on the bench even when he's dominating; and
c) our offensive strategy of 'chuck' and 'avoid giving the bigs touches'

All are being exposed this series so far.

Doug Smith was stating how even if they work things out in this series, that Masai would be looking at around 8 new faces coming in.

Only 3 i keep: Lowry, Derozan and Valanciunas. The rest of the team can be moved in the offseason. I feel without a doubt if we get a new coach we will see Val turn into a monster next year.

What about Tom Thibodeau? Been rumors the last 3 years that he would be let go, maybe this is the year. Would we have interest? He's sure helped Joakim Noah develop into a good player.
