Yeah, the only thing going through John's mind, was, 9th inning, go to my closer, cause it's a save, and saves must be done by a closer.

It's the same reason he goes to Yimi in the 6th more often than not, regardless of leverage, because Yimi is his 6/7 guy. It's really infuriating.
 
When you have Mayza, Romano, Swanson, Hicks and now Green you can play around the most optimal matchup and trust any of them, and certainly give the closer a night off if he's in a b2b situation with a fingernail issue.

I think alot of managers would understand that, not just Kevin Cash and the robot that manages the Dodgers.
