Phil Kessel

Yeah, exactly.

Not surprised that you wouldn't want to address the rest of the paragraph.

Kessel is very streaky, and it's looking like he's started one the last 5 games. Just because you don't want that to be true doesn't mean it isn't. Hopefully he snaps out of it quickly and it doesn't turn into a 15 gamer.

Again, what your idea of what is streaky is, and what isn't, simply isn't realistic. Therefore, it's an entirely and utterly useless benchmark to use in player comparisons/discussion. Again, to use your pet so that we can show your hypocrisy on the matter. Is Kulemin a streak player? Last year he had 2 separate 8 game goal scoring droughts, and 2 separate 7 gamers.

Goal scorers are streaky, repeatedly highlighting that is about as observant as telling someone that their head is getting a bit wet in the rain....every time it rains.

Grabo had a 12 game drought, and another 7 gamer. Kessel had the 14 game drought, and a 7. People don't go on and on about the streaky Grabovski though.

Basically, if you're looking for a goal scorer who isn't streaky, you're chasing unicorns. Even last year's Rocket Richard winner, who was very consistent last year (he only went more than 3 games without a goal once the entire season) had a 10, 7, & 6 game goal scoring drought the previous season.

This dick sucking of kulemin is almost as pathetic as LoF's trashing of beauchemin every other post. Whats most pathetic is eventually kulemin is going to start scoring some goals, something everyone on this board knows will happen and when it does we can pretty much guarantee LoF rubbing it in our faces thinking he "told us so".

thing is, Kessel has been pretty epically streaky in his career, and prolonged icecold streaks have been the bane of his career so far.

I've spent more time staring at game logs than I care to think about concerning the matter, and it just isn't true. The difference between Kessel's slumps and other slumps is that Kessel's happen in Toronto. It's a matter of perception based on the spotlight he receives, nothing more.

He has 2 14 game goal less droughts since he broke out as a Bruin, those are the only two of any special note at all....and droughts of that type aren't that rare at all. Bobby Ryan (who I figured would be a solid comparable) had a 1 goal in 13 stretch last year as well as another 8 game goal less stretch. More or less identical to Phil's 2 worst streaks...yet the same treatment isn't applied....because Bobby Ryan doesn't have 2 dozen microphones and a dozen cameras in his face every day.

oh noez. if kessel doesn't pick it up he might only be the 2nd highest scorer in the league instead of the first!!1!!

:willy_nilly:

Ryan is also regarded as a relatively streaky player as well though...

Yup. Pretty much. I'm a huge Kully fan yet i'll criticize if he goes for long without scoring. Hell i'm not even that pissed that he's not scoring, it's the fact he sucks at pretty much everything right now. Remember how people were pissed that Ponikarovsky had a huge body yet didn't really use it enough? Well Kulemin usually plays that style yet he doesn't even do that very well now..Not getting good chances..Not playing well defensively and so on. I'd be ashamed protecting someone that is obviously not doing his job. When i protected Bozak i had some reasons. He actually played well but just couldn't put the puck in and always tried defensively (it didn't always work though). Kulemin just isn't doing anything right now.

I forgot this is a Kessel thread. lol..Ok get back on track. I think Phil is getting a bit cold but i'm not dissappointed with his game..yet. :)

I like how thinking that Kulemin is playing well, but noting that the goals haven't come yet, is considered "dick sucking".

Unlike most other posters, I don't change my opinion every other game depending on which direction the bandwagon is heading.

I've said Kulemin is a great player from day one, and I still say so. I said Beauchemin is a piece of crap since day one, and I still say so.

And I'm right on both counts, so no need to wait for my I told you so. I'm telling you right now.

Stubbornly refusing to change your mind as new information becomes available is considered ducking one's head in the proverbial sand.

So in your mind, Kulemin can never play badly, no matter what.

Of course not. Every player has off games and slumps, and so has he.

But just because the goals aren't going in so far doesn't mean he's failing at every other aspect of the game.

Would you argue that Kessel is considered significantly "streakier" than Ryan though? It's this perception that Kessel is wildly streaky that bothers me. If Kessel is streaky, so is every other goal scorer in the league, and if that's the case, then considering any of them "streaky" loses all meaning. Streaky compared to what exactly? A ****ing unicorn, that's what.

How about Stamkos? He had a 27 game stretch where he scored 4 goals last year. Super duper streaky eh?
Iginla had 3 goals in his first 17 games last year
D Sedin had a 2 goal in 14 game stretch
Kesler had an 11 game goalless drought, and 2 other 1 goal in 9 game droughts.

So yeah, every 40+ goal scorer in the league last year not named Corey Perry had droughts similar to Kessel's.

Case in point: Grabovski.

I'm a huge fan of Grabs. I considered him untouchable last year.

But this year, I really can't say that I've seen him play more than a handful of good games. I believe he's been horrendous so far, to the point where I'm even questioning whether we should keep him.

And it's not because his totals aren't great, it's because he looks terrible and lost to me out there.

I'll change my mind on someone if they give me good reason to.

I'm not sure why you think it's just goals.

His shots are way down this year. He had 173 last year, on pace for 126 this year - down 27%.

He had 101 hits last year, on pace for 88 this year - down 13%.

48 blocks last year, on pace for 38 this year - down 21%.

He was really, really good last year - and he's simply not been anywhere near as good this year. He was an impact player in every area of the game last year, and this year he's been mostly invisible.

Nobody here thinks he sucks, only that he's not playing up to the level he should be.

That's some pretty significant stats there. Didn't even know. Just from watching him play he's not even close to the player he was last season. How anyone can argue those numbers is pathetic...and seriously who said Kulemin sucks?..Just like Maca in his first year i predicted that he'd get 20 or so in his first year..ok i was wrong..but eventually he became very good. I have no reason to think that he won't get back (he has the tools) but right now he needs to pick up his game!

This should be plastered all over the board as the ultimate truth of the matter, because when Kuley finally does start putting that work in and it starts paying off (which it will at some point, 30 goals may have been fortunate for him last year, but he's easily a 20-25+ goal winger) LoF will try to pawn it off as if he was the only one here who thought he was any good....again.

my god, you're so delusional and stuck in denial about your own arguments.

I like how thinking that Kulemin is playing well, but noting that the goals haven't come yet, is considered "dick sucking".

He is not playing well and this is something you cant come to admit. Instead you actually blamed it on grabo and mac for the fact kulemin hasnt scored a goal in 19 games.

Unlike most other posters, I don't change my opinion every other game depending on which direction the bandwagon is heading.

No, unfortunately you stick to your opinion wether its right and everyone agree's, you still argue, or you're wrong and everyone proves you wrong and you still argue it into the ground until the horse is not only dead, but a big pile of road kill.

I've said Kulemin is a great player from day one, and I still say so.
ANd everyone on this forum agree's, but the difference is everyone agree's he has sucked this season while you're still living in last years success.

I said Beauchemin is a piece of crap since day one, and I still say so.

I dont even think you watched a game Beauchemin played in, you just hated him and derailed every thread you posted in by bitching at how crappy you thought he was.

And I'm right on both counts, so no need to wait for my I told you so. I'm telling you right now.

People on this forum have already given you shit for patting your self on the back for stupid crap like this and you're still doing it.

Nobody here thinks he sucks, only that he's not playing up to the level he should be.

This on so many levels.
